My position weakened just a little on the title IX issue when I read the article about the coach-pitch girl’s softball 8u World Series. Could this be the start of a movement that parallels the youth baseball travel team phenomenon? Will we someday see vans with undersized "crew boats" strapped to the top and loads of 8u girls off to compete in the 8u world series of crew?

Stingers win 8U title in coach pitch softball

The Lexington Stingers, an 8-and-under coach pitch all-star team, recently won the NAFA World Series in Crossville.

The championship, the first held in the age group, came after the team captured Amateur Softball Association district and state titles. The Stingers compiled a 19-2 record during their all-star run and outscored the opposition by over 100 runs.

Fungo, I was curious as I had a co-worker who was just in TN for a few days watching her neice. They were in Chattanooga though. She was just telling me this morning about the attendance at the tournament. The youngest age group there was 10U. Big Grin

I don't know if TitleIX has really contributed to this phenomena or not. Did they schedule the games to allow nap time? I'm the parent of a boy and girl and have posted previously on my dislike of TitleIX. However, I think craziness like this has to do more with parents than TitleIX. My brother put his 3 year old son in T-ball this spring. Roll Eyes
