All too often we hear things from parents/players regarding what a college coach told them regarding their possibilities at that school.

Problem is that they heard what they wanted to hear not what the coach explained to them.

Folks keep your ears and eyes open when coaches talk to you---hear what they say so you are not disappointed further down the road.

I can relate TRHit:

Official visit fall of senior year, coach made a very good scholarship offer. And states "Junior would be our starting RF if he were here this year."

What we heard: "He should be a starter then his freshman year."

What he meant: "Junior would be our starting RF if he were here this year, because our current choices at RF are not as good as we would like."

What happened: Coach recruited an outstanding RF from JC that won the starting job during Junior's freshman year.

That RF got drafted, now Junior has excellent chance of winning the RF starting job his sophomore year.

Moral: Coaches have creative ways of making it sound exciting when they want you, but have an open mind when you get there. This coach never told an untruth.
