I told the players today at workouts that I did not think the Rockies had a chance in this series. I told them Boston was just too good.

Starting pitching - Boston huge advantage
Bull Pen - Boston
Defense - Rockies
Offense - Boston
Experience - Boston

Boston is just the better team with the proven stars in post season. Beckett , Schilling , Manny , Ortiz , Lowell - Just too much for the Rockies to overcome.
They might pull one out at home riding the emotion if they get a great pitching performance and some clutch hitting. But Boston will win this series and in no more than 5 games

Prediction game 2 - Boston 8 Rockies 2

Im hoping Im right and its not 18-2.

CM's team actually may have hit better pitching. Smile

Cleveland had Boston's # and choked.
Cleveland was a pitching change away from possibly winning game 5. Boston might deserve a little credit.

It takes four wins, but I like the Sox chances better today than yesterday.

Dad Cleveland choked and once momentum changes you are cooked. I thought there were some really poor decisions made in game 5.
I don't care which team wins but I know Jeff was throwing BP.
I don't watch MLB much because the way things are going thyere won't be any americans playing soon. I am listening to a story on the Dominican and it is about MLB investment in players and how they bring them up to go to the MLB. Now they are big on Japan and I have a friend who is doing the same in Europe.
The Dominican story is interesting. Shows kids playing on cleared out jungle areas with sticks as bats and then the team that all strive to be a part of which is all funded by MLB. They call them academies. I wood rather watch amateur BB any day.

It's very interesting but at the same time, it's incredibly sad. I was down there recently and I don't recall the exact numbers but I think it's something along these lines...only about 25 - 35% of the school aged boys make it to high school. The rest drop out because it interferes in their quest to get to the MLB. They feel that if thet're in school, they're not practicing enough. You mentioned thier academies. I stopped by one of the facilities and watched practice for 10 - 15 minutes. Interesting.

Back on topic.....Boston sweeps in 4.
Bobblehead: I spent a day at one of the academies in the Dominican Republic... it was very enlightening. The field they played on, my kids would call cr@p, they ate it up.
My wife wondered why all the boys we saw everywhere all day were playing baseball and not in school, a man told her: "School is obligatory, but only on paper." "A boys job is to learn baseball and English." he said "the beisbol" .... I can't wait to go back again (Plus they have beautiful beaches)

Years ago, there were no DR leagues, now most teams have them. I know that the Cardinals are very much into the latin market right now, they even brought 20 youngsters up from the DR to go to fall instruction and gave them english lessons.

I heard though, there's lots of visa issues now with the new homeland secrurity, so not as easy to come into the country, and MLB has to sponsor their stays here. It's not that easy to sponsor anymore, no matter who you are you are limited to the amount you can hire. So I am assuming each team is given limited amount of sponsorships? Should be interesting to see how things develop in the next few years.
Anyone know anything more about it?

First you learn what is a double play. Then you learn to turn one. They definately need new uni's though.
