Hey guys, I'm a new guy here. I am a 2013 catcher but I am sorta small. I'm 5'9 and only 125 lbs. Anyway, I was hoping at least one of you could answer my question. Like I said I am a Sophomore, the only problem is I haven't played any HS ball yet. I would really like to go D1 but I know that the chances are probably slim. However, I will still be happy playing D2 or D3 somewhere if I got the chance. So, my question is, do you guys think its too late for me to go D1? Even if its a lesser known D1 school(Mercer)? If not, what advice do you guys have? Thanks in advance

Approach it in steps.

1. Make the HS team. Once you do this go to 2, 3 etc.
2. Get opinions from people who really know and set your goals to make the realistic next level of play. Don't get hung up on D1,2,3 etc, your are waisting "cycles" even thinking about it until you do 1.
3. Work hard, get in the weight room, work on your skills. Starting late you are going to have to outwork all of the kids around you.
4. If you do 1-3 find places that you can get in front of the right coaches.
5. There is nothing wrong with going to a JC, so make this your lower level option and work up from there.

Have fun, try your best and let the chips fall where they fall.

Ok, thanks for the responses. Sorry for being kind of vague. I tried out my Freshman year and did not make the team. I didn't try out this year because I wanted time for practice and strength training. Now I tried to play summer ball for the school both years but they won't allow kids that didn't play in the spring play over the summer. Sorry again for the vagueness

There still must be some rec league opportunity going on near you right?....PONY/DIXIE/Babe Ruth?....

Get on a team and start fighting your way back.....then you can discuss the future....
