Even though he's still 4 years away, SS is where we project Cogbill to end up come draft day. Played mostly 18U tournaments last fall as a 14 year old and wasn't overmatched. Older brother played at TCU so the bloodlines are there.

Not real familiar with the other players in LD's system or any other system but Cogbill could have an impact on their program this season........given the opportunity. Same with Trice and Terry at Highland Park and Jesuit respectively. Terry can flat rake and Trice will shock some people with his power this year. Again, the question was.......Freshman to watch.

It don't mean a thing, if you ain't got that swing!!

I think Cogbill might have to wait a year at Lake Dallas, they have a pretty slick fielding ss returning in senior Kale Malcom. 9-4A second team all-district last year.
Beast, You don't know me. I don't have any "players". I don't even have A player on the Yankees. I simply respect the Yankee organization and their dedication to developing baseball talent. If you get the chance to see them play, you'll see what I am talking about. These young men are more enjoyable to watch than a pro team. I'm pretty serious about my baseball, but I am more serious about treating young athletes with respect. Your derogatory comment about the boys' performance at Elite 24 shows your lack of respect for young athletes and the game. I think our purpose here should be to build up cast stones.
What do the NY Yankees and Dallas Yankees have in common?

They both have the highest payrolls in their respective leagues.

I am just curious how the UIL is going to feel about all of the free travel and perks the Dallas group gets???

Make no mistake, they are a VERY good team, and will pull out all the stops every time they take the field...more often than not coming out on top.
Good luck to the Yankees. I don't know them but expect they are a fine team to play the schedule they did.

I'm not sure I'd describe that schedule "amazing" as PD did. I'd describe it as one that would likely wear out some fine young pitching arms. Maybe the team shouldn't have played that schedule knowing they were heading to the Elite 24, ya think?

I also know that the competition at the Elite 24 trumps a Triple Crown WS any day.

I'm guessing the win over the Yankees probably didn't lead to the demise of the OK Elite. I bet they had more pitching than that ace. The competition's just tough there.

You must be thinking about some other place. No sense in people being ugly but I suspect most are here to make and read opinions, sometimes strong ones, about HS Baseball not to "build up." We're not on the yellow brick road. And I did say HS Baseball, not 14yr-old baseball, or Triple this or Super that, or U-trip anything.
Obviously a lot of these are the kids that played 14U majors in the area last year and are now in HS. A great group of talented boys.

Coppell is loaded with freshman talent, watch for them in a couple of years.
Newman Smith has Mims from the Yankes.
Creekview has Henning and Hong.
The Lewisville schools will also some great freshamn talent.
Since I don't know who the experts behind the pseudonyms are, I hesitate to assume that they are really the overinflated egos that their posts paint them to be. I try to just read and learn, but...
While Mims is a 2010 Yankee, other Yankees who are fish playing with the big boys are Matt Deen at The Colony, Micha Easterling at Guyer, and Michael Bosch at Maypearl. A few other Yankees are playing JV with prominant 5A programs.
Freshmen on varsity rarely lead to the "ZZZZZZZs" poetically posted. Austin Knight was a freshman standout at Denton Ryan several years ago - all-tournament third base honors at the state tournament. He's continuing his success at DBU on and off the field. Aaron Baker was a freshman standout at Denton High and continues to get notice at OU and on the east coast. His little brother Abel who played V as a fish is now listed as a standout catcher on this site. And how about Brandon Workman the Bowie Jackrabbit (2A) on the UT roster?
All of the negative comments about freshmen, smaller schools and individual players' abilities reek of envy and hint that there are daddies online who believe that the waters of success are too shallow for their sons and others to share. Let's hope for their sons' sakes, that the popular theory that negativity attracts negativity does not come into play on July 1 or draft day. As for the old guys who have no vested interest, why can't they enjoy young people's success?
Personally, I am so proud of all of these young men who can maintain grades, be part of a family and compete at the varsity level. If they happen to be 15, that means more years for us to enjoy their talents. If they happen to be from "Hooterville," what a treat for that small town. And if they happen to play for a large 5A school, how fortunate that they found a place to shine.
Finally, I hope that our sons learn to value sportsmanship and a love of the game from adults who truly respect America's game.
P.S. My 2020 son is looking forward to the start of T-Ball!

Was your kid never a freshman?

Tiring to hear all the dads brag on their kids - just becuase someone plays or doesn't play as a freshmen has very little to do with the overall picture or the kids chances of playing at the next level. By the way all schools are not created equal - some schools don't play freshmen period while others are stacked with juniors and seniors. Not saying that all the freshmen listed above are not great players but lets wait until they do something first. I think there is a lot of horn blowing going on

Workman is from Bowie and they're in Class 3A, just FYI.

Bowie was 3A, but next two years they will be 2A due to recent UIL realignment.
I think he was drafted this past year in the top 15 rounds, but opted to go to college.
