Today I read in our local paper, The Orange County Register, that the Toyo Tires National Classic baseball tournament needs teams.
This high school classic, played in Southern California, has typically attracted nationally ranked teams, and is scheduled this year for April 12-15. Apparently 2 out-of-state teams cancelled their travel plans and have dropped out of the tournament.
The author of the brief article, Steve Fryer, stated "If any local teams or any teams across the nation that might access this information on the Internet are interested, they can contact Todd Rogers at (714)-993-2838."
I know when my son played for Esperanza (one of the co-hosting high schools), we ran into trouble during his senior year because a Florida team had to cancel at the last minute. And altho I realize that finances and situations change for the schools that travel a great distance, it is always a shame to see quality teams have to drop out of the tournament.
Am just passing this information on as a fan of the tournament. It has always been a wonderful experience for the participating teams ... and the weather at that time of year is generally perfect baseball weather. Anyway, just wanted to let people know what is happening in So Cal during "spring break" (a k a Easter vacation).
