PBR is tracking transfers now. I know it happens, but this is the first time I've seen a list with names and schools. And this is mostly just kids from the midwest. Might be eye opening for some people.

Shows how strong Madison College is becoming in the JUCO world. A pitcher coming in from the SEC and a pitcher leaving for Mississippi State. Indiana's 2B Tony Butler played a season at Madison College too.
Cool to see PBR doing this....
Looking for a JuCo that helps guys get to D1?

Mid, would you be able to explain why a player would transfer from DI to a Juco? Do these transfers usually occur because the player is not academically eligible, or because he was "cut" (or in the case of a P5, essentially told he will not see playing time so he might as well go elsewhere) - or for some other reason? If a player does transfer from DI to Juco, does the time spent in Juco count against his 4 years of NCAA eligibility?
And a related question - why would a player who is "committed" to DI change his mind and end up at a Juco? A player in our area was committed to a Big10 program but ended up going to a Juco. Could that be due to grades (i.e., he was not accepted to the DI), or is it because he feels it is a good way to develop and grow another year while not wasting a year sitting on the bench, or because the DI coach "suggested" it?? Sorry for the questions but this is a bit intriguing.
A lot of D1 to JUCO transfers occur after the first year. If you go to a JUCO for a year, then you can then transfer to another D1 the following year instead of sitting out a year if you went directly to another D1. It give the kid a chance to keep taking core classes, stay in shape and then get back to D1.
As far as changing from a D1 to commit....a lot of reasons, maybe they needed to get their GPA up a little between committing and the end of their senior year...and didn't get it done. Go to JUCO, take some core classes get the needed GPA and come in as a sophomore. Sometimes kids commit to a D1 then don't grow or don't notice the expected change in velo so they go JUCO to get a year old, stronger and again, go in as a soph. I know a kid who was committed to a mid-major....decided to go JUCO...threw great his freshman year then committed to a very good ACC baseball school. He's finishing this school year at his JUCO then is heading to the D1 as a junior. He wouldn't have done much at D1 as a freshman....but he grew 3" and put on 35# between the end of his senior year of HS and now...and his velo has gone from 87-93.
Yes, I think the only reason not mentioned above is misconduct. That could happen before heading off to D1 or after getting there. I know of a case where the kid was kicked out of school during the summer session before freshman year. Transferred to JuCo for 2 years, then to a different D1.
Without getting into all the exceptions, you basically have 4 years of eligibility between NCAA and JuCo. NCAA to JuCo to NCAA is categorized as a 4-2-4 transfer.
