transferring to a good 4 year academic school

One thing that I've found is that the Ivy's VERY seldom accept Jr. Transfers. That is not to say that they never do, but not very often. If you are hoping to play baseball, check the rosters. Are there any JC transfers listed? I would think that would give you a feel. There are a lot of very good schools out there who love to get hold of a player with the experience and maturity of a JC transfer.

Not an Ivy school, but the last JC transfer I remember Stanford taking (athletically) was around 1983...a basketball player.

Its tough. From what I've heard you would need not only stellar JC credentials, but admittable credentials as a HS student too.

Almost doesn't seem fair, but it is what it is.

I know of only two people who were able to transfer to Stanford from a JC. Both were admitted to Stanford as Freshmen but were unable to attend do to family circumstances and essentially deferred admission.

Not all is lost for JC players. The University of California system is full of JC transfers for academic and athletics, this includes UC Berkeley and UCLA. I count 4 on the official UCB roster and 9 on UCLA roster. The GPA required to transfer depends mostly on the degree program you want to enroll in.

Haverford doesn't accept transfers.
