X Level Sports And The Treasure Island Pirates Announce Plans For 12U Competitive Travel Team

San Francisco, CA--June 26, 2008--X Level Sports announced today that they will field a competitive 12u team called the Treasure Island Pirates starting in August 2008. “The goal of the program is to develop all of our players athletically and socially through structured team practices and individual skill work,” said Jim Sammons, the Head Coach of the Pirates. According to Sammons the coaching staff will feature highly qualified coaches, many of whom have had NCAA Division 1 coaching or playing experience, and the practice schedule has been designed to emulate Division 1 college baseball methodology. The team will be comprised of players who will not be age 13 until May 1, 2009.

Benefits of the program include:

Enhanced Player Development:
• Four hours of practice weekly that will be split into two days
• Day one is a team practice and will take place at TI 3, focused on defense, team play and baserunning
• Day two is an individual skills practice split into 2 segment¬¬s---(i) offense and (ii) defense/pitching. Offense segment shall consist of an hour of hitting drills with full access to the coaches and facility at X Level Sports. Second segment will consist of individualized defensive drills, bullpen sessions and strength and agility training.

High Level Coaching:
• Jim Sammons will be the head coach of the 12u program. Sammons has worked on the staff of three college baseball programs, most recently serving as Director of Baseball Operations and Camps for the University of San Francisco baseball team. Jim has also worked for Major League Baseball as a part of their envoy program in The Netherlands and recently helped with Team USA 14U regional tryouts in Northern California.

Sportsmanship/Teamwork:
• While the Treasure Island Pirates will compete in competitive tournaments against the best teams in Northern California, the coaching staff will emphasize the team concept and model and demand good sportsmanship at all times.
• The finer points of the game will also be taught early on and players will be held to a very high standard on hustle, body language and learning to respect the game, opponents and umpires.
• Practices will include team building exercises and tutorials on sportsmanship and “playing the game the right way”

Physical Development:
• Pirates players will receive up to date speed and agility training.
• Body weight movements (such as Push-ups, Pull-ups, Squat Jumps) will be employed for strength training
• Dynamic warm-up, flexibility training as well as static post stretch activities will be covered along with arm conditioning
• Core strengthening exercises will also be introduced and implemented throughout fall session
