Yeah... but you didn't get to enjoy 37" of snow a month ago....

No we did not! We did have a light dusting that you couldn't really even measure with a ruler and the schools were closed that day :- )

Just to put it in perspective...we had 37" of snow...walked 6 miles to school carrying our equipment...shoveled the entire baseball field...used hair dryers to dry out the field and then played a scrimmage in shorts and tee's...just sayin'

I used to walk to school in three feet of snow, uphill both ways.

I don't remember tryouts in SE PA not being outside. One year it had to be in the parking lot. The field was under water.

you are out of the loop my friend, the last 3 years have been terrible here. Last spring our first day on grass was the first game of the season...which was postponed by one full week.

Right, between cold weather or the fields being a mess from either cold or snow outside tryouts have been rare last few years.

I know last year was terrible. It was terrible everywhere in the northeast. I moved when my son graduated from high school. I live in Boston now. Last year was brutal.

Imagine being a high school coach who has to deal with playing in a public park. That's enough to deal with. Then imagine the town used the field as a dumping ground for a winter of 108 inches of snow. They had to find a new home field.

There were teams playing five or six games the last week of the season to finish their seasons. I only attended a couple of  high school games. But I heard the quality of play the last week was brutal. Most high school teams don't have 8-10 quality pitchers.

I had it easy in Nebraska- dad let me ride the horse 6 miles to school in the winter.

RJM,

for a second I thought you were talking about boston college again!

Naw, their field is a dumping ground for cars to tailgate during football season.
