This is a question for all the Texas high school UIL experts concerning a player moving in the district and eligibility to play next season....

There is a HOME SCHOOLED catcher who wants to enroll in my son's high school either for the upcoming fall semester or the spring (JAN '07) semester. He does not CURRENTLY live in our district but will move within our school's boundaries. Being that he is HOME SCHOOLED and will MOVE INTO the district would he be eligible to play the Texas high school 2007 season?

I'm certainly not an expert, but if he's not leaving a UIL program, and especially if he's moving into the school's boundaries, he should be eligible. Has he always been home schooled, or was it just for a short time?

There was a Lubbock kid a few years ago who's dad got cross ways with the high school coach prior to his Sr. season. They were going to move to a nearby town to try to get eligible, but the coach and/or athletic director of the school he was leaving wouldn't sign the release. It was determined that the change was for athletic purposes and he could not become eligible anywhere else. He played his Sr. year at a private school.

This past year, two different kids moved away from our district to nearby communities, but left on good terms, and they were both eligible to play.
