#4 Started on the varsity last year on the mound and at 3b. He was 5-1 on hill with a 2.3 era. He hit .358 in the two hole for us. Not bad for a team that finished the regular season ranked #1 in the state.
#5 Started on the varsity last year behind the plate. He threw out 11 of 13 baserunners and had one error on the season and one past ball. He hit .338 on the year in the four five and six hole. Named team defensive MVP.

All of the rest played JV and will do so this year with the exception of one #10. I am very proud of the work these young men have put in. They come everyday Mon thru Fri. I know it will pay off for them. It already has in the fact that they have learned a great work ethic and take pride in their physical fitness. Also it has made them better baseball players and they are setting an example for all those players that follow in their footsteps in the future. I look forward to posting this year how they do and how they are progressing. I have been simply amazed at how much stronger they have gotten in a one year. All of their arms are so much stronger and they are so much more athletic. It is strickly voluntary. We actually have to make them take days off. Thanks for letting me share this with all of you. By the way alot of the other kids are in the program as well. I have just chosen to do this class and chart the progress over a four year period. If any of you are interested in what the program consists of I will be glad to post it again. Thank You

Week is complete.

Our players will come early in the summer and long toss before the workouts. They also will get their hitting in before work outs. A typical summer day with no school is about arrive for work outs at 6:00 leave around 8:00 or so. For the kids that want to long toss or hit and or both arrive about an hour early. For those that play on the weekends we give them fridays off and they work in their arm routine on thursdays.

During school we start around 3:45 and finish up around 5:45. Now during the fall we have baseball developmental sessions so we have to work 8 in for this each day. They only do baseball on those day ie hit field throw - fundemental drills etc. We rotate this with the kids.

Program starts in July and ends in early Jan. At that point all our time is devoted to baseball skills development with the 8 we can work with and others can do their running etc on their own. The results that these kids are getting has been outstanding. Yesterday we took BP on the field and several of these kids who showed little or no power where hitting shots. And the ones that had power were flat out launching the ball. Two of these kids were hitting bombs well out of our park which is 315 lines 365 alleys 385 cf. There were several well out of cf and numerous out down the lines. Not bad for (16) year olds!

Well Coach May you were there so you would know but i've seen many young teenagers and most lift like morons as they use to much weight in poor form ect.To me going for a max especially in the squat is dangerous as most teenagers don't squat properly to begin with. Perhaps your guidance has overcome this tendency
Thats a fair statement Darkmoon. We are very carefull to stress proper technique. Of course some of these kids are (feeling thier oats) so to speak and we have to step in and rein them in a bit once in awhile. They are all sophs now they have been in this program since the summer before their freshman year. They started lifting at the beginning of their freshman year. So they have been at it about 1 1/2 years. You make good points though they do have to be watched and closely monitored especially in the weight room. Alot of good can go on in there and alot of bad as well if they are not lifting properly and supervised.
SouthernNO1 I agree with you about the bench press. I can not tell as much with the two kids in this class that came in with really good arms. They have increased velocity but most do at this age with time. But the kids that were very weak that have gotten much stronger on this program have increased their velocity at a much greater rate than kids that did not participate.
