Raybans has raised the bar, we all have high expections now because of him. Beating Miami in Miami is good enough for me only if it is once. The purpose is to get to regionals, then any thing can happen. there are three seasons 1. regular 2. regionals and super regionals 3. cws

Just hope they don't pair all the Tenn. teams in Knoxvile so we have more teams to root for!
559 and rolling...

Former Karns Beaver Derek Tharpe is 3-0 after throwing 8-2/3 innings in the 3-1 win today over Georgia State.

Tharpe (3-0), who struck out eight and walked one, allowed one unearned run while scattering seven hits in the win. He kept the Panthers at bay before a catchers interference call with two in the ninth helped lead to Georgia State's lone run.

Tharpe faced the minimum through five, giving up just two hits, and was impressive into the late innings by striking out the side in the seventh.

The Vols (9-2), who won their 14th straight home game, look to tie the school record for consecutive home wins against the Panthers (4-6) Saturday at 3 p.m.

The SEC doesn't want to come to Knoxville this year!

I wonder if all these games were played in the afternoon.

The Bulldogs had better watch out. We're nipping at their heels.

Attendance brings up another long term issue. Last weekend there were problems parking around campus because of an AAU event on Saturday, and then the Lady Vols on Sunday. There have been numerous times when conflicts with events at the arena make parking very difficult.
I caught the last half of the game. Watson and Drucker (who pitched the 9th) had good stuff today. That's the first time I've seen Drucker pitch. Tennessee had a few chances to pad the lead but kept hitting the ball toward a glove. Josh Alley hit a shot to right that would have likely been out of the park on a calmer day. The wind was really whipping. UT's bats had better wake up soon. Three hits won't get you many wins in SEC play.

The new outfield grandstands are in. They look pretty good and give fans a good view of the game. And, they're chairbacks!
Vols score one run in the bottom of the 9th to win 3-2 and sweep Georgia State. The streak continues, the Vols RPI gets better each day and the early talk of SEC coach of the year begins with "Ray-Bans".

The streak will continue with Niagara and Siena coming to town. Wink

Bama,
Thanks for the encouraging words, Your wisdom is showing as usual with your quote "They will likely hit the top 25 soon". You must have an inside source with the pollsters!

Congrats on the young Bomber and the 2-0 record. applaude

Tharpe Pitches Vols Past Siena, 6-2

Former Karns Beaver, Derek Tharpe tossed a complete game three-hitter and Chase Headley slugged his second home run as the Tennessee Volunteers won their 10th straight game with a 6-2 victory over the Siena Saints in the first of three games at Lindsey Stadium.

Tharpe (4-0), who set a career-high with 8 2/3 innings pitched last week against Georgia State, threw the first nine-inning complete game of his career. He finished with a season-high nine strikeouts with two walks.

After striking out five of the first nine hitters he faced, Tharpe was touched for a single in the fourth before giving up a two-run home run to Scott King in the fifth following a Vol error. After issuing a two-out walk in the sixth, Tharpe was untouchable, retiring the final 10 batters he faced, including back-to-back strikeouts to end the game.

The Streak Continues.....

Vols sweep Siena

Streaks and more streaks...
Ben Riley extended his scoreless innings streak to 14 2/3 with five shutout innings against the Siena Saints as the Tennessee Vols posted their 12th consecutive victory with a 12-2 decision.

Coach Rod Delmonico's 566 and counting.....

Tennessee closes out its 13-game home stand Tuesday against the Lipscomb Bison at 7 p.m. ET.

Then the Vols head to Starkville to spank some . Cool

Bizazz,
I cannot believe that you would want to rain on this parade?? The Vols are on a "roll" and another #1 pitcher going down cannot be as important as the mighty sweep over a strong Siena team. I'm sure Raybans has another arm he can throw against the mighty Bisons of Lipscomb this week.

Look out Ron here come the VOLS! Starkville, smoke across the outfield, the Leftfield lounge, BBQ Bulldog on a pit, orange and white... Rod for President! Cool
The College Baseball World continues to come around....

The latest Collegiate Baseball poll has:

19. Tennessee up from 26
21. Mississippi St. down from 17
30. Vanderbilt down from 29

SEC player of the week:
University of Tennessee right fielder Michael Rivera was named the Southeastern Conference's Player of the Week after hitting .632 (12-for-19) and raising average from .282 to a team-best .397. He is currently batting .533 on a team-high nine-game hitting streak.

Tennessee's starters all are batting at a 300+ clip and the Vols head skipper says his 300+ hitters can go 12 deep in his roster this year. He's sees this as his best hitting squad ever.

He also noted that catcher Nick Crowe is throwing out baserunners at a better rate than any of the past Vol catchers.

It doesn't get much better than this. Let me put Auburn, LSU and South Carolina on notice. This is the year of the "Big Orange" 08
