Has this guy had a great season or what? Where would the Yankees be without him? Not to early to start a Cy Young and MVP discussion.

AL- Lot of Candidates for CY Young, Lackey, Beckett, Escobar, Sabathia, Wa-ng, Wakefield

My pick at this time is Wa-ng

MVP- A-rod

NL- Peavey Cy Young

MVP-David Wright

Prince Fielder gets a lot of consideration.

It is a good list. Wa*ng takes a very close back seat to Beckett though. Beckett has twice the K's and 0.38 lower ERA and the same wins. Wakefield has had a career year and Carmona has also. Arod is a runaway MVP. He hit a bomb in left last night that could be the hardest ball hit this year. Wan*g's teammates know they have a good chance to win with him up. Without him they miss the playoffs by a mile.

One of the differences between Wa-ng and Beckett is that Beckett has a better staff to pick him up. For Wa-ng it has been his role to be the stopper. His support is not as dependable.

Why is Peavy pitching on three days rest. The Padres have a pretty good hold on the division or the wildcard, why are they acting desperate? I don't understand this move. I understand why Peavy ask but Bud Black has to be smarter than that.

Yes if the Brewers win Fielder should be considered, but is Braun the MVP of that team?
deldad I like stats....sometimes. Smile Wa-ng has thrived in a situation where nearly everyone else has been poor to average. He has been the Lone Ranger for the Yankees. He gets the Yankee CY.

I have watched both multiple times. Wangs command is impeccable. Becketts stuff is better, imo and save a few ill-timed 3 run bombs, his ERA would be under 3.00. Becketts stuff is dominatingly strong.

Becketts k:bb ratio is nearly 3 times higher. Both get the job done. Beckett would win a bunch for any team now.

I think that is a good observation but I would classify Braun as the hottest player but not the most important.

Fielder gets the best every pitcher can give - he is an established threat. I want to see what Braun can do once the NL has really had a chance to scout him.
Coach once you've played maybe 25 games I would bet that there is a good book on you. I think Braun is for real. He benefits from Fielder. As far as hottest player, I think you have to give that to Ankiel. He may single handedly bring the Cards into contention.

Dad, Beckett's stuff is filthy. And the stats are in his favor by far. I just like the **** story. You pay 28 mil for Clemens and the east coast bias media talks about every pitcher on the staff except
Wa-ng. Also, this is the second year in a row that he has been the ace of the staff with little or no attention. Honestly, I would like to see Wakefield win it. My 13 yo throws harder than Wake, I would love to see him get it. Wake is still pitching and ABoone is nowhere in baseball. Ironic isn't it?
