Memorial had an up and down week winning 2 and losing one.

Alvirne came out strong at Gill on Monday night. Some solid hits, aggressive base running and taking advantage of errors gave the visitors a quick 4 - 0 lead. Memorial got one run in the middle of the game and then scored 4 more late to take bring the game to the final score of 5 - 4. Jon Mersereau had the big hit driving in the tying and winning runs with 2 outs in the 6th.

Domingo Cruz started 2 double plays from right field. He made a put out then gunned down a runner at home in the middle of the game and then ended the game making the catch in right and cutting down the runner at third. Luke Reynolds pitched 5 + and sophomore Ryan Boulay took the mound and kept Alvirne from getting any more runs.

On Wednesday Memorial visited Concord. Steve Shack pitched strong for 5 plus innings and left w/ a 6-3 lead. Concord kept chipping away and won the game 7 - 6 in 9 innings.

Timberlane visited Gill on Thursday to finish the week. Tim Sullivan pitched a complete game 5 - 1 win. He struck out 8 and walked one. The defense was solid and the bats got some big extra base hits. Tim Gregoire had a triple and Bill Dubiois follwed that w/ a double. Jake Mills had a double and a triple and Tim Sullivan had a triple.
Dugdale is going to play 15U AAU? After spending the spring having success against 17 and 18 year old varsity players that seems like a strange move. Is there no Legion program or something?

Seacoastdad- Not sure what was so disrespectful about telling you to relax. An obvious type-o by someone and you taking offense to it deserves a relax comment.

It's a fair question, however, Dugdale plays for the New England Diamond Dawgs, one of the best programs in New England, run by Marc Deschenes. A good number of Londonderry kids play for that team as well. Last year Kasey Carollo played for their U15 team, and Ryan Maloney and Jake Cassidy, both playing for the Londonderry Varsity squad this year, are on this years U15 as well. The point being that they play a very high level of AAU with some pitchers doing extra work with Deschenes all winter in addition to twice a week workouts.
North wins 8-7 over Exeter with North starting out 6-0 in the early innings. Morency pitched a no hitter up to the 4th inning and pitched into the 7th inning and was relieved by Louis Tarintino. Entering the top of the 7th score was 8-2 but Exeter closed the gap scoring 2 runs on 3 hits. Than the big 1st baseman came up for Exeter and hit a 3 run 390' mammoth shot over everything at Holman Stadium. Brought the score to 8-7 when McGowan came in for relief to get the last out and end the game. Quite an exciting ending with a MLB type blast for Exeters 1st baseman. Nashua was led again by Joe Breen going 2-3 to lead the way offensively.

Michael - No offense taken. Thanks for clearing it up. Good luck on the exam - remember, debits are near the window, credits are near the door! (A little accounting humor)

For those of you who missed this great game, Jake Woodward pitched all seven innings. He pitched a great game but Pembroke got some timely hits and took advatage of the men they were able to get on base. I know that Pembroke's record may not be stellar but they are a good team and are catching fire right now, heading into playoffs.
Headed over to Goffstown to see them play for the first time this year. And I believe Welch is pitching for Manchester West. So I can't wait to see how he handles one of the best hitting teams in the state. According to their assistant coach, Welch is also pitching Friday at home against Spaulding and the following Friday to close out the year at home against Nashua North. So his road to the end of the season is going to be one hell of a stretch.

Side note, is it just me, or is Alvirne one of the biggest sleepers come tournament time. They seem to love to run, and with Travis Terrill as their ace of staff and a few solid arms behind them, they could make a quiet run into the second or third round this year in my opinion. Same with Bishop Guertin, with solid depth on the mound and at the plate. Any thoughts?
Coming around to the Home Stretch!!

Goffstown has a tough schedule....Londonderry, North, Keene, Salem.
If North runs the table they win the regular season, i.e. either outright with 2 losses by Goffstown or tie-breaker w/ G. - head-to-head.

Either Keene, Londonderry or Trinity to prob. get #4 Seed. Keene-Trinity today. The loser will be on the outside looking in for a chance at the 4th spot.

South looks secure at #3 or better with a favorable schedule remaining.

A bunch of schools are battling for that last playoff spot.

Anybody picking some upsets this week?

I'm thinking North may win the regular season.
Souhegan gets revenge on Bedford today for handing them their only defeat last week. Terry Dugdale went the distance allowing only one earned run in the 5-3 victory. Didn't get the full stats, but I'd estimate he gave up no more than three hits and strikeouts were around 10. He also hit a solo shot in his first at bat to help his cause. Impressive outing considering the same lineup got 10 hits against Souhegan last week.

Bedford pitcher was solid most of the game as well (didn't get his name but it wasn't Maher.) He had a high number of strikeouts also. Well played pitcher's duel and a heck of a lot of fun to watch.
Nashua North squeeks one out over Merrimack 7-5 in 9 innings in a pitchers duel between Hudon & McGowan. Hudon pitched 8 innings leaving with a 3-3 tie. Not sure who came in for relief for Hudon in the 9th inning.

For North Turner came in for Mcgowan tied 3-3 and pitched the 6th.7th,8th,9th and got the win on 7 K's, 1 hit, 0 ER's. Nashua never got there offense going as Hudon mixed up his pitches as he consistantly does every time out & hitting his corners.

Merrimack made a run in the 9th taking advantage of 3 NN errors and scoring 2 runs in the bottom half before getting the last out to end the game.

Here are the pitching lines for the Souhegan / Bedford game

Terry Dugdale - 7IP, 3R, 2ER, 3Hits, 5BB, 1HBP, 9 K’s, 134 Pitches
Lucas Olen – 6IP, 5R, 4ER, 7Hits, 3BB, 12 K’s, 106 Pitches

Dugdale an Olen were on center stage in this one. The top of the first was déjà vu from the game last week, only this time it was Bedford failing to make more out of a bases loaded situation. Dugdale walked 3 and allowed 1 hit in a 30 pitch inning that saw Bedford limited to 1 run. He did not walk another Bedford batter until the 7th and he mixed it up well. Jeff Gancarz did get a homerun off of him in the 4th to tie the score at 2, but Dugdale was very efficient in the middle innings. One side note, the strike zone was very high today. It was consistent for the most part and both pitchers were denied on some fine pitches at the knees. In a strange way; however, the high zone probably saved Dugdale in the 1st as he got 2 Bedford batters looking at high strikes before the ump’s strike zone was clear to the batters. As most excellent pitchers do, he settled down from there on and twirled a nice game for any pitcher, let alone a sophomore in a very important game.

Olen (who is a junior) matched him through the first five and he even pitched well in the 6th. As LJ said, it was a well played game and the Souhegan bats were clutch in the bottom of the 6th answering Bedford’s run in the top of the inning to score 3 of their own for the 5-3 final. DJ Petropoulos (2-2,BB,1R) led it off with a sharp single up the middle. Matt Schagrin walked on a 3-2 count and Kyle Beaulieu delivered an 0-2 RBI single. Nick Hession managed another 2 strike single driving in Schagrin, but Bedford centerfielder Mike Laflamme threw a strike to catcher Jeff Gancarz who held on after a good, hard slide by Alex Lyon who was running for Beaulieu. Hession scored following a Bedford error. Dugdale came back to get the last 3 outs in the top of the 7th. He did walk two, but he must have been on fumes given the pitch count.

Chas Distascio the Merrimack SS came in to reliever Hudon in the 9th inning and North would play the hit them where they ain't game hitting something like 5 singles including a bunt for a hit. The NN 1 and 2 hitters were pesky the whole game spoiling many two strike pitches and running up the pitch count on Hudon. Hudon pitched out of trouble a couple of times inducing 3 double plays and picking off two runners in the 8th including a pinch runner.

Turner was tough in relief I had him at 83-87MPH with a solid breaking ball. He also had a double I believe. EATMAN I looked for you post game but you must have taken off quick or I just didn't spot you. Is Kyle scheduled to start any games soon?
A great game yesterday between Salem and Exeter. A great pitching duel between Nick Poore and Carson Cross. Salem scored 2 in the top of the 6th to take a 3-2 lead and Poore shut the door from there. Carson was throwing around 83 most of the afternoon with Poore around 87-88. Carson had several K's and good command of his pitches and gave up 2 earned runs, and Poore had 14 K's with 1 walk and gave up no earned runs.
