What a difference a few days make.

Most of you have probably read the topic in the General Forum titled something like "upset in Texas". Last night is a good example of the importance of pre district tournaments in Texas.

Two very good teams played for the 2nd time in 3 days. On Saturday Flower Mound beat Allen 13-12 in the championship of the Frisco Tournament. Many people would see that score and would think, great offenses/ no pitching.

They met again last night in the district opener and Allen got revenge with a 1-0 victory. Tolleson struck out 17 according to the DMN.

Texas baseball - just like Texas weather. You don't like it, just wait a day or two.

And Flower Mound may win the rematch 1-0. The preseason is what it is -- a chance for the coach to play mad scientist a little while evaluating his kids. FM is "ranked" #3 in the state and SLC is #5 -- and neither team has dominated thus far. FM beat SLC last weekend with an '08 pitcher, which is not a shot at any player....but more of an indication of what happens when teams play several games in the same weekend. No wonder the scores are 13-12 and such. Coppell scored 22, Marcus scored 20 <-- just a few examples.

The tourneys are pretty much over, I think -- time to see what's up.

RAM fan -- giving up 17 to Hebron in a district game? Yikes. (noticed your RAM has red-shirted at ASU, I hope he is enjoying it)

Another thing to remember about tournament scores=most teams play district games on tuesday, and pitch their #1 starter. Then the
tournaments start on thursday, and the further
along a team gets, the deeper in their rotation they get. Many times kids pitching in tournaments
rarely or never pitch in district games. You should take tournament results with a grain of
salt-you will find a truer result during district games.
