Everyone has given you good advice. Continue to work hard on your game and conditioning. Wherever you get the most playtime is the best place to be as a sophomore. I also suggest that you help to educate your parents on the recruiting process if they are not currently involved. Introduce them to this website and the wealth of information available right here at your fingertips! Smile
Everyone is giving great advice!!

As a sophomore, you have the opportunity to improve your skills as a player and also improve your leadership skills as an older JV player. If you could imagine one thing...while you're practicing, playing and studying the books...imagine that there are college coaches with their eyes on you at all times. Impress yourself, but not in a cocky way....if you thought you were capable of something...push hard to impress yourself. Underpromise and overdeliver!! That means be humble and walk with a big stick!!

Good luck!!
Wow.. some of this surprises me.

First, as a sophomore in high school, you can't really expect to be recruited can you? I know my friend who graduated 3 years ago was getting some recruitment as a Junior, but he was also throwing mid-80's and then had some other stuff to throw as well. He pitched varsity sophomore year up.

Second, it kind of surprises me if the sophomores are the "older JV members." I guess my school must just do it differently. Every sophomore (unless they are a complete stud) plays JV and may play a little bit of varsity on days JV doesn't play. In our conference, we play JV and varsity games on the same day so it is seldom that a sophomore will dress varsity in the conference season here. Our coach also sends quite a few Juniors down to play JV those days as well sometimes. To make sure he still has somebody on the bench just in case, he'll sometimes carry a freshman or two on the varsity roster for when they don't have a freshman game.

Maybe I'm just taking for granted the fact that we have 3 teams at my school- varsity, JV, and freshman. It's not that we are that big of a school so I'm surprised there aren't more schools like that.
Playing for your summer team is great, but make time to go to College camps this year. Even if you miss a Game or Two.
Go to the College Camps of your choice and you think you have a chance of playing for after HS.
The Camps are ran alot like a Showcase now, and will have area scouts and JUCO'S helping out looking for Talent.
Its important you do it this year. Between your Sophmore And Junior Year, and next year also to get on the Radar of the College of your choice and were you fit in.
Good Luck The EH
Are you working out with the poly kids who are buying cage time at grand slam? Are you doing anything for your game at this point? Are you getting ready for March 1? You might want to ask your coach if there's anyone who you should talk to in preparation for what you want to do. I know that kids from Poly are playing D1 ball (at least, I know one) so the coach should know the process. Your hs team won't be playing competitively overall -- not in the city -- so you've got to make sure that you do what is necessary for you to up the level of your game. I don't know anything about the putty hill team for your age group, but look at the standings and try to play with the best available competition and on the most competitive team.
