We'll, 2-4 VS. the best 2 teams on their schedule leaves me thinking that maybe FAU needs another year...or maybe a pitcher or 2 to actually play with the big guy's.

There are no really outstanding teams left on what is a weak schedule to begin with.

Regardless of their final record, they will have a lot to prove come tournament time.

Imo, they would get pummled in a major conference.

Remember it's a long season and we got some injuries. BTW, what is FSU doing playing all those easy teams? Charleston Southern...come on? FAU plays what they have to play. Auburn is OK, did you see what happened? And what other decent teams do you guys play, nobody 'till the end of April, always the same for FSU, every single year"talking about weak teams". Take a look at your own tail before you talk. Baseball is baseball, not matter what conference. Enjoy the season.

How about litle Mercer? 2,500 undergraduate students. Perennial Atlantic Sun Conference bottom dweller. Did not even pitch their All Conference Ace either.

Relatively new coach [5th year I think] and new assistants. Some good recruiting classes. Play a lot of small ball.

Too bad they are not in FL. They might get my vote.

Hey. i luv ya. i lik yer posts. But 'any "smaller" team can beat any "bigger" team any day of the week'. Then why does we play the college world serious? you tells me that? Tuh see which "bigger" team is luky nuf to scape the day the "smaller" team is hot? Don't thing suh.

Mercer is an up and coming team. Give them a couple more years. Then come back and tell me I'm wrong. If you can find me.

How about you type in english next time, my head hurts now. hi
I don't think ONE weekday game can determine who is better.
It's really hard to believe that two powerhouses in Florida DO NOT have a weekend series.
A players take on Mercer, they showed great defense against #1 Clemson last night and will put up LHP starters for the next two games. Seems to be their secret weapon.

Ok Tampagrown,

I should expect to see this comment repeated in every forum on this great website that doesnt have to do with high school baseball.

Are you going to go to war on the unusually unusual forum? Rarely anything related to baseball is brought up there.

How about every topic involving major league players or games?

There is nothing wrong with people discussing Florida's D1 schools. It makes for a fun and interesting topic. While the title of this website may be the High School Baseball Web, many great topics are discussed, all of which add differing insight to a variety of questions and situation.

I really dislike when people post irrelevant flames that do nothing to further the dialogue. The topic says "Which D1 school will go the farthest". You can obviously read the title and abstain from entering the thread.

Tampagrown's silly post aside,

It's clear at this early juncture that the Seminoles have the lead statewide at this moment in time. The ACC will test this outstanding pitching and hitting crew.

The Gator's should right the ship and they have played a tougher schedule to date. It won't get any easier though in the SEC.

The Cane's are searching for stability but I'm not sure they will find it. 3 games in Tallahassee and a very difficult ACC schedule loom.

FAU has been dissapointing to say the least but they are young and can still turn it around.

North Florida is a solid team and might be a factor as they will play everyone in state that will play them.

JU could also make some waves. FIU,USF,UCF,and Stetson look to be middle of the road at best.
...spent many a day in "very chilly Blacksburg".

If you watched any of this past weekend's series between the Hokies and Miami, you may agree that the Hokies have a fair ways to go yet before they become competitive in the ACC, let alone hanging with the nation's elite teams. I do wish them well though. With all due respect to Coach Hartman (a fine coach and even finer gentleman), I suggest it's time to pass the baton.

...Noles are off to an outstanding start. Martin appears to be getting the best out his boys early in the season. ...great focus and teamwork. Can they keep it up and stay healthy for the run through the conference? Also, now that Seminoles are ranked #1 nationally in Collegiate Baseball poll, they have a target on their back.

Don't count the Gators out just yet. Pitching staff getting loose. As they begin conference play this week, we'll begin to see whether or not they are able to build upon last year's success.

The game was actually in Columbia,SC.

The FSU/UNF game tonight will be interesting.
According to FSU site the starter for FSU-Browning-will probably become a weekend starter.

BTW is Ruari on the DL? Thought we would see more of him this year. Also have a friend's son,
Brian Kelley, on the team and he's not playing
either. Can you enlighten us on both? THKS.
Ruairi will take a medical red shirt this year.
The diagnosis took 6 weeks. The operation to remove the Hokae Hamate bone in his hand was done 2 weeks ago. The stitches came out last saturday.

Brian Kelley is a very patient young man waiting for his opportunity on one of the nation's best staff's. He is a great kid from great stock with a singing voice and talent on the guitar that is truly sensational!
Sox-Thanks for the update-sorry to hear about Ruairi but hopefully he'll heal
properly and come back next year. Ironically, My two sons' ex-HS teammate broke his hamate bone at UCF this year(Chadd Hartman) and will probably red-shirt as well. Had never even seen or heard that term before and now twice
in a month.

My son, red shirt at UNF will be at the game tonight in Tallahassee-hope it's
not a blow out.

Brian and his parents are great people-I think they've been to every game even
though Brian is not playing.

Thanks again.
Moc1,

Thanks for the good wishes. He should be ready to get back in the swing of things in a few weeks. That bone is a real problem with baseball players. I have met or heard of several player's with the same problem. I've seen Chad hit at various games and showcases. When you put the knob of the bat into the palm of your hand and swing with the power he and Ruairi have, it's easy to figure what happens to a weak and totally unnecessary bone like the hamate.

Good luck to your son and North Florida. The Noles could use a tough game tonight before heading to Chapel Hill this weekend.

Brian and his family are a delight. Please say hi to Ed and Margaret when you see them as I won't be down for awhile.
Dad04...

Gators did it, just a few short weeks ago. But to see the current scores the Gators are posting, ya gotta wonder who was playing for them that weekend.

What is the world is going on with the Gators' pitching? I haven't watched or read closely enough to know of injuries or other obvious issues that may be sinking the ship. There must be something going on...?!?!
Kind of scary (for me) when Florida's pitcher with most innings (61) is a sophmore.

Also kind of scary watching a bunch of Cane players getting drinks and slushy's at the concession stand before the game begns. Sorry, but this is ACC baseball.
JMO.

Both teams have no pitching depth.
ACC baseball?....@ Miami?

That's nothing compared to the single most disgusting port a potty in the history of raw sewage, which the Canes left immediately adjacent to the Nole dugout last year, stinking so bad that player's and fans treated it like Chernobl!....for 3 games! The Light is a real "dump" and has been for a long time!

Have you been to Duke? Or should I say to the "back woods"? Very scary people, very few but very scary in that they reminded me of the movie "Deliverance".

The BC field would be a joke at most HS's!

Wake does not have lights.

At a glance the ACC has room for improvement in the "class" department.
Not every program has the facilities that FSU, Clemson and UNC have.
