TARatko,

I understand the %s you are using, but they are based on pitchers getting 0 hits. Also based on no pinch hitters for them.

I know pitchers don't hit as well as DHs, but they do have a bat in their hands.

I like the White Sox, but the following national league teams, with pitchers hitting, out hit them this year. What are the %s that explain that?

Florida Marlins
Chicago Cubs Smile sorry, but true!
St Louis Cardinals
Philadelphia Phillies
Colorado Rockies
Atlanta Braves

The following national league teams outscored them this year.

Cincinnati Reds
Philadelphia Phillies
St Louis Cardinals
Atlanta Braves

Sure looks like this could be a World Series featuring pitching! Both teams strong points! But who knows what will happen in a 7 game series.
From a national poll administered by Ipsos: The most popular teams are the New York Yankees, with 12 percent of those surveyed naming the Bronx Bombers as the team they root for during the regular season, and the Boston Red Sox and Atlanta Braves with 11 percent each. Houston was named by 3 percent, while only 1 percent listed the White Sox. (bold added)

Go Astros!
PG. I see the point your trying to make, but I don't think it is relative to the aggregate numbers at hand. Just because a 40% of teams outhit and 26% outscored the White Sox isn't relative to the fact that there were.......more runs scored, higher batting averages and higher ERA 's OVERALL in the AL.

We are talking about the big difference in the 2 leagues, not the White Sox specifically. We are discussing pitchers in the AL as compared to the NL. Btw, we are not talking about the White Sox offense...which is the reason the Sox were out scored..the White Sox pitching staff had nothing to do with your stats!

The point is that a pitcher ...without a doubt, has an easier time of it facing a line-up of 9 professional hitters compared to 8+1, Dontrell Willis and very few others notwithstanding.

The % of advantage is probably more like 7-9%.
OK, It's time to admitt it..... I'm coming out... I'm biSOXual! Ok, I said it! Glad I got it off my chest! Smile I'm a die-hard RED SOX fan that was rooting for the WHITE SOX! (hey, at least we can say we lost to the world champs!) Enjoyed the series, just wish it went a couple more games. I'm not ready for the next 4 months without ball! Frown Congrats to the White Sox! clap
