I propose that the moderators make a change to this site to accomodate what obviously is the biggest news in modern sports since the inflatable ball, Whitney Young High School.

Please vote on one of the following three proposals.

1. Create a Whitney Young forum where all things about the HS from chess to girls s****r can be aired ad naseum. (it would be identical to how the Illinois forum has been hijacked, only without all those bothersome posts about baseball)

2. Rename the Illinois forum, the Whitney Young forum, because nothing in Illinois really happens except at Whitney Young. (after all, there are now 8 current topics all devoted to Whitney Young and the CPL)

3. Take up a collection to build a Whitney Young Supporters site so that people (or multiple personalities manifested in a single person) can have their own website to discuss all things Witney Young and leave us to our petty little baseball discussions. If we raised enough, we could even get Mr. Ormond a big chair and a sceptre so that he could pound it on the floor when he makes proclimations about how the world should view and treat him and Whitney Young.

I find it funny that the kids have the best perspective on this. Some adults need to grow up a bit and learn from these kids. If you don’t like WY stuff or stuff from MO then don’t read it and definitely don’t respond to it. He is posting positive things about HS sports, mostly baseball. I think he needs to calm down a bit with the things that don’t relate to hs sports and we would all be fine with it.

Since you invited me in........

I happen to believe that there is considerable talent in the CPL; it is the largest league in the state and is one of the largest public leagues in the country. Because of the size it might take a bit longer for the talent in the CPL to be recognized and to shake out. The size of the CPL is enormous just because of great number of schools which participate. Every school has a right to field a team and then they get measured against the best, whether it be Lane, Clemente, Jones or Young, etc, etc. Because I have been following both CPL baseball and basketball for the last two years I have been to most every high school in the CPS system. Despite living in Chicago for 25 years this has taken me down many streets and into many neighborhoods I had never previously ventured into. It is highly likely that I have visited more high schools than most of the regular contributors on this site. How many of you Catholic supporters have been to St. Sabinas or Leo lately? There is a lot of IHSA history that has been made at those two places alone.

What I am seeing within this area of the web site is that most of these threads are self congratulatory back slapping of each other about how great the surburban schools and catholic schools are. It is a real "old boys" network. However, there is more to this great metropolitan area than just the catholics and suburbans. I am also more than fascinated with the attention all of my threads about CPL and Young receive. So keep reading and reacting and if it makes you think about something differently so be it, as the Internet has definitely changed the rules of engagement and of how schools and players can be effectively promoted.

If you want to report on what is going on at the high school you happen to watch then I suggest you go for it. There is a real hunger for high schoool sports reporting and the Sun Times does an average at best job and the Tribune rarely takes the time to put something in its print publication product. The Illinois Forum is one of the most active on this web site, second only to the state of Texas. It would make the Illinois Forum a whole lot richer if the bickering among the few stopped and it were understood that the Illinois Baseball world does not revolve around those schools which only a few decide warrant attention on this web site.

I have been watching the Class of 2009 players develop for 8 years. Since I now sit in the CPL and at Young, I intend to promote, support and advance the CPL and Whitney Young for the next two years. I also realize that many feel that Young and Jones do not deserve to be in the IHSA Sectional Playoffs. So be it, we are there and I suspect that my detractors are not. If we get bounced out we got farther than we ever got before and then it starts all over with preparations for next year. In baseball you are only so good as the last game you played.

My best regards to all.

Well said, lets move on.

Good Luck today and on Saturday (I know you like Dave but you should 10-run Jones). If DeLasalle can scrape a run across vs. Mt. Carmel I would say you guys are favorites to advance in your sectional.
Are you throwing Coleman/Clement today and saving Max for Mt.C/D on Sat? If he throws like he did at Wrigley he will be tough to beat!
