I see that about half as many teams play in the Perfect Game World Championship in Jupiter as play in the Underclass World Championship in Ft Myers. I can’t image that fewer teams request an invite, so I’m guessing that PG has a much higher standard for Jupiter? Short of winning a regional qualifier, just how difficult is it for an independent team to secure an invite?

From the Perfect Game web site:

"The WWBA World Championship, which is held annually in Jupiter, FL in late October is a strict invite-only event. It is our oldest and most prestigious event we run. It is limited to 85 teams, with well over 200 wanting in. There are 61 teams who are grandfathered in the event each year because they have been there for so many years. There are 17 PG teams, made up of top individual players not on a participating team. That leaves 7 spots for Qualifier winners. The only way to get a new team into this event that doesn’t win a Qualifier is if a team drops out, which doesn’t happen very often."
