Geeze...I think we might break our own arms trying to pat ourselves on the back...Hate to do this once again....But it needs to be said...with ALL due respects, and COMPLETE understanding of where the other 99% are coming from...

Never was and will never be a fan of old guard, old boy/old girl networks, of exclusivity, of networking, of hall-of-fames, of popularity contests, of celebrity over substance, of promotion by longevity, of double standards, of playing time by longevity. All that leads to respect based as much on how long, political affiliations and kiss-ups than it does on information, or truth, or content, or performance.

Often/recently see inane posts by the "right" posters that are soundly revered, until someone realizes that "the emperor has no clothes" and then its a quick and mutually cheery backup by the whole posse. On the other side, have seen some very good posts "gang tackled" simply because they come from a politically incorrect, or newbie source. Have seen The "right" posters argue themselves in complete circles of logic trying to make certain posters wrong.

Here is the metafore...

Open position on the team...freshman arrives...obviously brings game...clearly good enough to start...but the team is not happy, wants a less talented Junior who has been waiting to get that spot...the team makes life difficult for the freshman simply because he is a freshman, not because he lacks talent...coach/moderator understands freshman sits and gets frustrated. Understandable right? Or Unreasonable? OK if you son is the junior, right? What if your son were the freshman?

Again, I understand where we are coming from, and I'd say that for the most part we do a good job letting the information do the talking....but I'd also caution against reading our own press clippings.

WOW!

I posted early on in this thread, and just came back to see what a (h)issing contest it has devolved into!

TG: It seems to me that you have an interesting combination of testosterone and victim complex. You have been here just a few short months, have posted at a rate that would make GotWood blush, and then complained about people here treating "newcomers" badly.

People are not reacting this way to you because you are a newcomer. They are reacting to your behavior. I hope you can step back a bit and do a little self assessment, because from my point of view, as someone who has absolutely no ill will toward you at all, and who welcomes what you can bring to this board, I think you have regularly used this board to in one way or another brag about yourself, your son and your daughter.

Bottom line, that is what people are reacting to. It seems that quite often your posts are thinly veiled excuses to create "oh by the way" reasons to brag about how hard nosed you are, how successful you are, how talented your son and daughter are, etc.

There are legions of people on this board whose sons are unbelievably talented in this game we all love. They have excelled at a level that my son can now only dream of. Yet, unless directly asked, they hardly ever mention a thing, and then usually only in a PM.

I have learned so much from these folks over the years about appropriate parent demeanor. I simply suggest that you take a step back, do an honest self-assessment of why you are here.

If you do, I think you will find the folks here are VERY welcoming, helpful, informative, and yes, even indulgent of the occasional brag!

Sorry TR...I was too busy posting popcorn and didn't see your comment to me. And now that you mention it...it was a tad too hot in the kitchen just a bit ago...and they call it Easy Mac...what's so easy 'bout it?

I like it well done, but it looks a little over done. I bet the grease would have added a lot of extra flavor!

Great post!

What is also great about the board is that there are many very nice people here that provide great advice and experiences, even if their son may not be the best athletes.
Observer44; I hear ya loud and clear on that one! Some of the loved and revered websters can say things that would get the rest of us attacked by an angry mob.
Some of us follow others around just for the fun of tormenting and jabbing from the backside. (My kids loved doing this) Big Grin
Still others treat it as a verbal posturing contest and their friends come running. Then proceed to tell everyone how wonderful they all are. There are SO many nice people on here, but also a number of pompous posters. I still love reading the articles and enjoy the comradeship of others on the same journey. I do not understand the need some see to take jabs at others for seemingly no reason at all.
Agree Rob. This forum works because of mutual respect and heartfelt advice from people who have been there and done that. I don't want to read a p#$#ing contest. My observation is that newcomers questions are welcomed and answered as patiently and authoritatively as possible. Mine always have. Listen, learn and contribute if you can. But in an uncertain world, let's have fun with baseball.
After readng through the remainder of the thread I've noticed there are several people who object to my presense on this board. I will no longer participate. Life will go on for the board and me.

MN-Mom since some of my posts bother people, please delete my account if that will take my posts with it. Thank you.

And thank you to the people I've enjoyed conversing with and the valuable information I've learned on this board.
TG,

I told you before - you gotta Buck Up.

I had one poster claim I was the anti-Christ. Several have said I am the worst baseball parent they have ever known. And many have said I have no clue about anything related to the game and my posts are a detriment to young players. So what?

That is just their opinion. And the HSBBWeb is all about information - and opinion. Respectfully delivered of course.

There is no unconditional love here in cyber world.

Just because you think some people object to your presence on the board - doesnt mean you should deprive yourself of all the good stuff this place has to offer.

Just my opinion.
TG, Your not getting it.
Life is way to serious, to allow a P****** match on the HSBBW to bother you.
And deleting your posts is not the answer.
That just messes up the thread, so no one know's what the fuss is all about.
If we all agreed, there wouldn't be much to talk about.
To be a Baseball player, You MUST have thick skin.

To be the Parent of a Baseball Player.
You also need thick skin, and a coating of RHINO Lineing.

You and your player are going to hear thing's you might not want to hear.
It comes with the territory.
You don't have to believe everything they say.
And you never stop trying to be the best you can be.

They think you'ra an ******y

Keep your sense of humor

iheartbb, This poem?

It's great.
But what does [ They think you'ra an ******y ] mean.

I would just die if people think of me in that way. [What ever that means.]

I have feeling's, and I am very sensitive.

Really, I do

I'm Serious.

Quit laughing at me.

I try to talk in generalities.
Not trying to mention my son are anything about where he's at are how he's doing.
I'm not a self promotor.

I believe in being humble as a player or parent.

I believe in pun ( the baseball gods ).
And not doing anything to rattle there cages.LOL
I know i've stuck MY foot in my mouth a time are two.
And it will come back to bite you.
