Outside of baseball and fine academics there are other reasons to attend college--- I went to ST Johns not only because of baseball but because of the overall college atmosphere-- when my son played at New Mexico State he would let me know when the hoops team had a midnite game on ESPN-- he and his Aggie baseball team mates would be there and they could all wave hi to parents and friends thousands of miles away

This past week my wife and I had the pleasure to be involved with the America East Womens Tournament-- we hosted the Univ of Albany team for the second straight year--- and yesterday I was in a gym that was rocking as UHART won the womens title with a hoop with 4 seconds to go in the game-- the student body was into it-- to say the least--the University President and his wife where there with the Governor and her Husband as their guests--Many of the old UCONN team mates of Coach Jen Rizzotti were there--- it was a great atmosphere that brought many memories for me from 40 years ago when I was in college. Today in the Sunday Hartford Courant the University of Hartford Ladies Basketball team had the front page of the sports section supplanting the UCONN Teams.

The college memories and friendships stay with you forever--they are the best 4 years of your life--at least they were for me

Great fun

Tr,

Nice post. Thanks for starting a topic not related to steroids. There must be a million fine reasons for going to college along with the excellent reasons you suggest. I had to do it the hard way by going to night school and will always regret not being able to share the true college experience. That said, no matter how you do it, college is truly worth it.
Went to college at 26, graduated at 30...."non-tradtional" student....I didn't care....was getting that degree and having a wonderful time....have raised my son to understand that school for him is 16 years of education...agree TR....except I'm going to say....the best 4 years of my single life...that way I stay out of trouble with my 2 guys....one thinks the best years of my life have been since I married him, and the other since I gave birth to him....
