Around the 6th inning I thought to myself "You are not going to hit him. You have a much better chance of walking than hitting this guy. Just take. Maybe he walks some guys. Maybe he throws something someone can handle if he loads he bases. Heck maybe he walks a guy in or throws a wild pitch. At the very least you drive his pitch count up so high he can't finish."

It looked like ground hog day for each batter.

For those who say SEC is not the strongest.  4/8 in Omaha.  Would have been more but the committee intentionally makes sure they pit SEC against each other and ACC/SEC matchups.  I think they should be spread out and even reworked if two from the same conference are in the Supers.  I know it will never happen because the rest of the nation does not want to see SEC and ACC dominate Omaha.

Nobody says that.  They attack the academics instead. Welcome to sportsfanning, where if you are not number one, you create another category.

This is why non SEC fans hate the SEC.

The NCAA should rework everything so that the SEC can have more teams in and prove that they are so much better? If they matched them up separately in all different supers and they all lost, the argument would be that it was purposely done to keep to SEC out of the CWS.

Not many people will deny that the SEC is the best. But only 2 SEC teams went head to head in supers. No regional had 2 SEC teams. At most, 1 team was left out. That's just asking for preferential treatment.

Because it just matters more in the SEC. The only that matters more than “it matters more” is telling everyone else how wonderful the SEC is and everyone else is second rate.

Like I posted before it doesn’t come from those whose son’s are SEC athletes. It comes from others who just root for the teams. The posters of SEC athletes respect how hard others worked to get wherever they are playing.

I’m not go to allow my college education to be put down because someone else’s college sports teams wins more games. There are SEC fans who believe they are better people than others just because they root for an SEC team.

Its absurd to state SEC teams are pitted against each other to prevent more from making it to Omaha. The brackets (host teams) are created by RPI.

Must be a slow baseball day - have to find something to complain about while waiting for the CWS to start.

Count me in the who cares dep't.  It's cyclical and depends largely upon #1 and #2 being able to "effectively execute" and hoping if you have to get to #3 that he can hold on or step up big time.  Oh and don't walk the first 4 batters on 20 pitches.

I don't believe they should take into account how many teams are from a certain conference when selecting or seeding. I also believe they should reseed after the regionals. They should reseed after the Supers. JMO

Yes the SEC is the strongest conference in football and baseball. I don't hate the SEC coming from ACC country. I admire the passion of their fans. I respect the programs and the outstanding product they put on the field.

If I had the power I would transfer UNC into the SEC and hope it would raise the level of play in football. But the basketball folks would never have it. Every year the top HS football players in NC either go to the SEC or now Clemson. Can you blame a kid?

Yes some SEC fans are obnoxious about the success of their conference. But so are many ACC fans when it comes to hoops.

I noticed today that the #1 2021 prospect in the nation, according to Perfect Game, who attends an upper-crust private school in Los Angeles, is committed to Vanderbilt.  C'mon, kid!   What's wrong with UCLA, Cal, or Stanford?  Oh, well, he's projected as a top 5 draft choice too, so good chance he signs, I suppose.

I was wondering the same thing about the two kids from Portland ME who chose Vanderbilt. Why wouldn’t they go to University of Maine at Orono? It’s only two and a half hours north of Portland and four and a half hours north of Boston.

One of them graduated this year. He’s slotted at about 1.2M. He may sign. Is it wise to reclassify when you’re potentially the top high school pick in next year’s draft? The other has another year of high school. He also has a 95 mph fastball.

Several tippy top prospects have reclassed lately. I think the notion is that they will be one year younger when they reach free agency. Watched the #2 and #12 draft picks play this last weekend. Wasted time for them competition wise.

The Mountain West reference made me think of this...

On the other side of the coin, what schools, year in and year out, should have great sports programs but just don't?

San Jose State comes to mind.  Fresno State, for a very long time, did great things in football, basketball, baseball and softball.  Now, consistently two notches below where they once were.

University of Texas

I don't know this guy and don't care to know him. He may be a great person but I doubt it. Ask yourself this. If you knew what you were doing agitated and irritated so many people would you continue to do it? I can't help but believe there are Vandy fans and Players that would love him to just stop. Anyone that knew what they were doing got on so many peoples nerves that bad but they continue to do it just seems like a total as s. I could be wrong. He may be a great person. But ...............................

Why would these guys stop? They’re becoming nationally known by being arseholes.

I’ll have to find something else to do this afternoon. I won’t watch Vanderbilt games because of these guys. Maybe I’ll shove splinters under my fingernails for something less annoying to do then listen to these clowns. If I wanted to listen to shrill noises in my den I would light a bonfire under the smoke detector.

Go everyone else! Beat Vanderbilt! Send the clowns packing! Make watching college baseball great again.

I contacted the Omaha organization that manages the CWS. I told them Vanderbilt games are unwatchable. They responded. They’ve had a lot of complaints.

Disruptive noise making will be addressed with one warning before further action is examined.  This is a building policy and we do intend to enforce it.

On a personal note:  I have been suffering from mild hearing loss at high frequencies ever since I was young.  Watching Vandy last week with my son, and having discussed the whistler BS before the game, I found that I could not hear the whistles, only the clapping. I said to my son, this is awesome -- ESPN has figured out to filter the whistling out of the audio. He said nah, I hear it fine and it's very annoying.

Oh, well.
