Do the HS varsity student-athletes know how to win the mental side of the game? Are they getting good coaching in this area?

This is what I do, but I'm really trying to learn about y'all's perspective on this. For me, talent differences between high schools are wide, but not impacting performance (especially in the post-season) as much as differences in mental skills like focus, attitude, courage, and having fun playing the game.

Paw-fect - thank you. That makes me smile wide!

I see what you meant now! I couldn't put two and two together from the original post. Thanks for the clarification and I agree with you 100%. Coach Doe does a great job. His son is one of the better ones on the team as well.

The coach he replaced did all the groundwork on that program as he was there from day one at the school. He was re-assigned within the school district. He son does a very fine job also.

Memo to watch your back at all times.

Well, guys, I wasn't trying to go there (and certainly recommend that others don't as well). I do agree that Coach Doe stepped into a good situation.

I wanted to go here: both good and bad Mental Skills are contagious. Where are student-athletes in Dallas most likely to be in good environments for enhancing their performance and if you or your son is not there, what can be done about it?
