As much as I worship the Babe, Abe was first. Clearly a tall, lefty hurler. Very projectable. After a rocky start, he had a winning record in away games. He set the Southern league on fire in his last season.

I thought Mike Love just kicked him out of the Beach Boys.
That picture of the Bambino with a fake beard was taken during a game with the House of David team which was a barnstorming team of the 1920's and 1930's on which everyone had a beard which was very unusual at the time. They were actually quite good.

That barnstorming is fascinating to me. I've heard some stories about those teams coming through our area back in the day. I'd love to learn more.

Isn't from the early exhibition pilots who flew into fields and put on shows in the rural midwest? Flying over barns = barnstorming.

I've grown fond of Jason Werth's beard (typically well groomed) but sometimes it gets a life of its own and resembles "Captain Caveman"
Not sure if I have pasted it correctly but he is for his hometown team. Iconic beard.
