Not a fan of this type of reveal. I'm open to changing my mind if anyone wants to persuade me.

College baseball doesn’t have the widespread appeal of college football and basketball. I can’t predict what players will do. I predict it won’t have impact and appeal in relation to publicity.
Depends whether or not he choses Texas Tech. Let you know Wed.
Good ole Stockbridge on the Southside of the ATL.
Lord I hope not!,
Most college coaches won't wait that long for a commitment before they move to the next kid!
I don't really have a problem with these. But it is also different for football. A 5 star QB can be the difference between a contender and a 6-6 season. A top 100 baseball recruit might not start until their junior year at any of these schools. Pick up the hat, fine. Short videos and theatrics, no thanks. I'm more surprised the offers are still out there than anything. It is very uncommon.
All I know is that somebody in one of these recruiting classes is going to get some very bad news at some point in the next few months. Yikes
I wonder if the commitment has already been made and kept quiet. Colleges don’t announce until NLI signing day.
Personally, I wouldn’t advise my son to do it but I don’t mind others doing it. Kids just having fun and trying to enjoy a little hype.
Maybe baseball needs a little more hype to get the younger generation involved and get people out to the college parks???
I think for most, it’s all in good fun. Most of us old timers don’t follow twitter , snapchat and Instagram anyway.
I actually know this particular kid a little, and my guess is he will opt for the draft, and won’t go to any of these schools.
He won't go to college no matter who he chooses so it is not a big deal. I don't think it is a big deal because the best players usually commit early whereas in football they wait for the hype. But it also will never be a big deal because the cream of the crop will go pro so nobody really counts on them even when they commit to their school.

This was my thought too. At first my reaction was about how four schools of this baseball quality could be holding baseball money without an answer, then decided that wasn't very likely. My guess is he committed some time ago and just hasn't said anything or posted it.

IMO the last thing kids in this generation need is more hype. Almost all of them could use a big dose of humility. I don't think that its all in good fun - I think its in poor taste.
ADBONO
I seriously respect your opinion, (and somewhat agree in general terms) but I don't think they post on twitter or the other social media with the intent of pleasing or impressing adults. Its more about their peers, and the kids really don't see it the same as we do most of the time.
They see their football friends do it and get lots of retweets, so why should baseball players be any different? To them, its no different.

I agree with all that, but it used to be when kids did stupid sh*t they would be corrected by adults. And it wasn't always a parent. Now too many adults want to look the other way and write if off as kids being kids. None of that is okay with me.
Puke Please, I hope not. The "shows" that football players put on make my stomach hurt. Nothing says "Look at me" like these signing ceremonies with 6 hats and he fools people by putting on one before switching to another. If a kid has that type of "me" attitude as a HS junior, what's he going to be like in college? Especially in football where you're talking a 100% scholarship, if I'm a coach and I see that, I'd tell the kid to take my team's hat off the table....he's not longer invited. You'd better have the respect to tell me up front instead of me finding out on TV or the internet.
Baseball traditionally is not as "showy" as football so my guess is this type of "reveal" will not take off. Not a big fan. Even if it is for the kids (and not adults), not sure that makes it any better. I think my 18 YO son would find it annoying and self absorbed.
MoneyyMikee is his Twitter handle? Holy s you can't make this sh** up!

SEE PREVIOUS POST ON GOD, MONEY, HONOR...
It's hard to believe schools don't tout the rest of their recruiting class, national title chances to uncommitted kids they want. My guess is he is not verbally committed, or most likely just recently told the school.
To answer your question, no I doubt it will happen on a regular basis because there’s not enough of scholarship money to go around in baseball. I do think the process is changing tho. Players and coaches verbal commitments are becoming less and less meaningful.
I think they're unlikely to become a fixture. Fortunately, my son has zero interest - as he put it, why would you say 'look at me' before you've done anything on a college diamond? He and his buds view 'signing' - when and if it happens - as a mile marker along a route, not a final destination.

He better be THAT good.
This remind me of when the Flyers introduced Gritty. First, I hated it, then I thought it was some kind of stunt, then I was like... oh well, how does this not make you smile/laugh in some way?
I think that these things are ridiculous and reflect very poorly on the kids that put them out there.
And then I say a silent prayer, thankful that social media wasn't around when I was being recruited.
Surprisingly he committed to Texas Tech. Everyone knew he would go to Florida or Georgia. His twitter video

I completely support the kid. Express yourself!
Wreck 'Em! Guns Up!
Wow! Not sure what else to say. I guess as long as he is having fun and his current and future teammates continue to support him. However, I don't care how many people he thanks, that video is about putting the spotlight on himself! Complete opposite of what we taught our son and am damn glad that he has never expressed an interest in putting the spotlight on himself.
I have met very few coaches who, behind closed doors, have great things to say about players who make the game about them. Will they put up with them and say all the right things, you bet. At the next level it is a business. You don't sign talent...you don't win...you don't have a job anymore.
I have no doubts that he will be humbled at some point in the not so distant future. He is young and very talented so doubt he has experienced many low points but we all know they are coming. Best of luck to him at TT.

As wareagle said... no shot he goes there.
I guess after watching the Twitter video it's not as bad as I had envisioned... Not one of those with the hats at the table and switching hats thing. I'm sure the young man worked hard and is entitled to a day in the limelight. I'll stop being so grumpy now (although I still would not want my son doing it)! T Tech must have an excellent program in his chosen field of study.
