It's most effective for the programs that are uploading the pitching data for their opponents' pitchers  and giving their batters hundreds of swings against their upcoming opponents before they play them. I haven't used this one but I have used game sense and had some kids use it and I think it can help pitch recognition some. I have heard an interview with a specialist on that topic who works with mlb teams though who believes that virtual reality or video even if done well cannot match seeing real pitches due to some physical issues and that is probably true too but I do think that seeing those pitches is better than doing nothing and can keep the rust off at least to some degree in the off season or during longer injury breaks.

Thanks for starting this topic. I was on the bubble for getting a VR system with the bat strap, the kid was using a 2D visual software to work on his timing and VR seemed like a natural progression especially when living in a cold weather state. He told me to hold off as he is at a facility 3x a week and prefers a machine and live arms.
