It seems that most successful college baseball programs across levels either take a "home grown" strategy with most recruits coming straight out of HS or lean heavily on the JC transfer/drop-down route.  Of course some of this is dictated by the level of academic focus (most high academic schools recruit straight out of HS).  I would like to hear thoughts or experiences where there is/was a true hybrid model that is perennially successful - schools that have a significant number roster players and AND contributors from both pools.

I think that you will find more home grown among the larger more successful P5s.

Because of the draft, because of transfer rules, you won't find a really hybrid model.

Success depends more on the ease of getting players to buy into the program more than anything else. Some coaches are better at it than others.
