Of course he got there because of who he is, but IMO what he did was amazing. Those aren't high school pitchers in AA.
Btw, Only 2 hitters hit .300 in that same league last year. The third highest batting ave. in the league was .290. Only 5 players had 30 or more SBs and three of those players had 31. Some early draft picks hit .200! and these are guys that have been playing professional baseball for a few year rather than basketball only for the last 14 years.
Surely no one here thinks hitting at that level is easy. It's not the local beer softball league. I think what Jordan did just goes to show what a great athlete he was.
Agreed again! To be honest, I'm a little miffed at the fact that some do not view what Jordan did as impressive. Many guys these days are making the jump to the big leagues dierctly from AA, bypassing AAA.
Let's just say that Jordan was a very average AA player. Considering that he hadn't seen live pitching in over a decade, and he was facing professionals, no less...
The last fastball Michael Jordan saw was 82MPH, and now he's seeing 88-94 regularly, along with secondary stuff. Meanwhile, there are players alongside him that were all-conference, all-American, and so forth, who have spent every day perfecting their craft...only to do no better.
I don't get it.
