If I am reading today's schedule correctly, Top Tier's 17U team has advanced to the round of 16 teams from an original total of over 190 teams. Today is the last day of the tournament and with so many games left to play, they indicate that all playoff games today will be 5 innings and the Championship game will be 7.

Top Tier played well down here and made the final 16. There were about 6 teams who left before today.

The final four has ABD Bulldogs (CA) who defeated the East Cobb Astros (GA), Diamond Devils (SC) who defeated the Dallas Tigers, Tri State Arsenal (NJ) who defeated ASD (CA) and Diamond Elite (FL) who defeated The Dirtbags (NC).

The Diamond Devils team that beat Top Tier has 7 or 8 players that have committed to the U of South Carolina and others who are committed to SEC or ACC Colleges.

Illinois Sparks also made the playoffs, but their players had to get back to their high school teams by Monday so they were one of the few teams that had to forfeit their playoff game.

Overall a very good showing by the Illinois teams in both 17U and 18U.

Very good event with great competition and college exposure for the players. East Cobb is a wonderful venue but the weather seems to be a problem most years. I wouldn't want to be the one in charge of trying to reshuffle the schedule due to rainouts etc. You have to wonder if there is a different part of the country, outside of California, that could handle such an event with hopefully more agreeable weather this time of year?

Despite the iffy weather, when you're making your baseball plans, WWBA has to be put in the "can't miss" category IMO.
