Hi Andy...
Is this heaven?...
Is this heaven?...
I think that's a good call PAmom. This type of poll does nothing but give Andy or whoever a thrill. I cast my vote, not to vote!
My favorite poster is that one of Farah Fawcett in the red swim suit.

See nothing wrong with this poll,if it wasnt for the post's from these fine people, the midwest forum woulndt be the most read forum on this site. It's a lot better than a post about the stinken Yankees

rz1, this is all in fun, and there is no rule that we have to like or respond to every post on the board. Right?
Boomer, such encouragement from the nice mom from Dallas who set up this poll. Aw shucks, your probably trying not to blush while Steve is on the couch at Strikes sleeping trying not to be envious! My advice is to stay away from trouble, guys! LOL.
By the way, what time and place did we decide on for the Strikes Christmas party inviting all the posters?

I agree with you totally, and I'm flattered by the poll, but I didn't become a member of this fine baseball savy community to win a popularity contest. I joined in to share and compare experiences, become educated in the high school/college process, and just LEARN, more about baseball!
There is too much "bickering" going-on, not debate, or the adult acceptance of someones opinion, it's getting out-of-hand. I have caught myself being entwined in "bickering" on several occasions, and I promised myself that it would not happen again.
I shouldn't be anyones "favorite poster", and no-one should. To me, it just diminishes the credibility of the other posters on these boards. That should never, ever happen. I know it's done in good fun, but it can, and probably does create ill will and feelings.
I'm not an expert at this game, or about the process. I didn't play professionally or in college, but many people on these boards did. Those opinions, if you so chose, should be listened to, good or bad. YOU, as a parent or player, need to decide what is best for yourselves/family.
Every player has different goals and dreams of playing on their favorite team (pro/college). No one should criticize anybody else for what they are thinking about doing regarding school/baseball. If anything, be constructive, supportive, with that players/families goals/dreams. It doesn't hurt you, or cost you anything to be nice!!! If you want to patronize them, good ahead, it's o.k. But, don't be condescending, nobody is perfect.
Some of this negativity is found on some other topics in this Midwest Forum. We are supposed to be teaching our kids respect, and how to be an adult. We're not doing to good of a job. We complained about the Provi kids last season and their "bickering", we haven't taught them anything!

llcom...See, you are now "reacting" to somone saying something about one of your posts.
Why would you leave because of that? There is so much "fun" on this board.
Everyone's opinion is a valuable asset on this site and on this thread.
The only time that I take any kind of remedial action is when someone gets ugly or real personal--with few exceptions. I let someone taking a "shot" at my son on the board. (Tells you reams about that person.)
You wouldn't walk out of a room while discussing something as entertaining as baseball, would you?
As I've said so many times, the valuable insights and information gleaned from so many people on this site have proven invaluable to my son's recruiting efforts. Honestly, I don't believe much of the success that he's enjoyed would have happened had I not "stumbled" upon this site nearly 3 years ago.
Even if you just watch and read you are important. Presumably, you enjoy the subject matter; or, you enjoy people going "crazy" on this site.
One this is certain, we have all LEARNED something about baseball, colleges, recruiting, professional baseball, etc.

livinbb...Christmas Party at Strikes is a good idea. When? (I suppose it should be after 10 or when they finish their lessons one evening.)
Find out about it and let us know.
I'll bring my $20.00 worth of hotdogs and cokes.

masked...RZ1 is one of the most knowledgeable posters/websters around.
In college, I'm sure that you've heard someone say: "Don't judge a book by its cover".
Really, don't judge a poster by a few posts that you may have quite a "problem" with.
You may meet him at the Strikes Christmas party and learn that he is a terrific guy with a tremendously talented son.

Beenthere....I think this might be the first time that I totally agfree with you on something regarding ll mom.....just beause someone doesn't chime in on every subject, doesn't mean they don't have an opinion...some of us just choose to share ours more than others, but to ridicule someone for sharing somethng...no matter how many post they have...is a true sign of lack of respect for a person...
rz1... totally out of line.. Maybe you were just having a bad moment...we all do
ll mom...put your foot down girl!!...don't let anyone chase you off because of your opinion

You might be right MrBeenthereIL but the comment about llmom wasnt qualifyed to post, cause she only had 3 post rubbed me the wrong way, alot of people are afraid to write somthing cause some one like him will make you feel stupid, for months I was thinking,"man I would love to say something", but thought naw I will sound stupid. The number's of post's dont make you creditable, it's what you say that count's! Sorry got to go class you know.
My apologies to Il mom and the rest of posters I may have offended, that was not my intent. I not only looked at the # of posts, registered date, and the knoweldge of posting polls and the use of graemlins, and made an assumption that the poster seemed to have more knowledge than a "guest". At times there are rouge posters whos intent is to humor themselves and dimminish the quality of this forum. I have a lot of respect for the people on the poll and to rate one over another and then some voters might qualify their vote with a comment I find out of line. A self induced timeout with no tv has been put in place.
Mde5, good call on the bad moment. I had just gotten back from bowling where the ball return gashed my ball. The alley ball I then used had a larger thumb hole and my first throw went for negative yardage and almost took out the guy on the lane next to me. When factoring in the Neanderthal mentality of bowlers there was very little sympathy. It was quiet a sight. I'm over it but a little upset I missed the guy, we may have taken the game with a better placed shot.

You better not, I plan on swimming on Christmas...

Talent....thanks for the compliment, I learned it all from Bill O'Brien..
My son is doing great! He is transferring to Phoenix College (part of the AZ juco conference) and has had some nice conversations with Eastern Kentucky for the future. He has hooked up with a strength/training academy and has been working out there 3 days a week...hitting and fielding 3 days a week and playing double headers on Sundays in a men's league. He has put on 20 pounds of muscle since August, so he is starting to get close to his goals... he is now 6'+ 185. He has had the pleasure of working out with some of the best HS players here in AZ, a player for the Blue Jays and an Arena football player...life for him is going very well now...thanks for asking

Even though I live in Michigan I enjoy the Midwest forum, too. My son is playing in Illinois now in the MVC and I can read some names of players on here whom he is playing with and against, etc. Since I am a baseball junkie and long time college coach (no longer coaching) this just helps me to keep baseball at the forefront of my thoughts daily. All of the Illinois posters seem to be relatively knowledgeable and of course sometimes entertaining.....keep it up!! The season is around the corner.
college season kicks off in less than 2 weeks here...high schools started practice yesterday...so baseball is in full swing here....and I have to say...I LOVE IT!!!
and when I say kicks off in 2 weeks...I mean night games...woohoo
Who needs 75 degree weather when you can have a dusting of snow and 25!
(Actually, we all envy you)
But what do you do in June, July, August when the temperature reaches 146 under a tree?

drink plenty of water....plus, the new school he is at play all their games at night under the lights during the summer...and I know it is ahrd to believe,,,but when it is 110 during the day...98 in the evening with the sun down is pretty pleasent.
I know that 2 years ago we were playing at the Lumberyard...in July...and my son looks at me and says.." I will not live here when I don't have to..I don't mind the heat, I HATE the humidity"...he never once complained about having practice last August when it was 113-116 out...and they were in it for 4 hours

Interesting, MDe.
When we played out in Arizona in 2001 and 2002 for the Junior Olympics, the temperature during our 7-8 days ranged from 109-116 degrees. None of the locals were outside and it was HOT for them. Most of the locals were at the malls... inside. Heard all about the "humidity"...nothing like the "dry" heat where you can't even catch your breath! As far as it being "pleasant" at 98 degrees when the sun goes down? That is a myth, too. The heat retained by the streets and sidewalks makes it unpleasant to walk outside. We just stayed in the restaurants (inside) until it was time to get back to the motels.
I SERIOUSLY doubt that anyone stays outside for practice for 4 hours in 113-116 degree heat. The coach would get fired immediately and some kids would die. You stay outside for an hour in that kid of "dry" heat and you've got problems. That is why you never see kids on the diamonds in the summertime in Arizona. Way too hot!

Beenthere, I mean no disrespect, but you obviously haven't been out here to watch fall practice for colleges. I was outside from 1 to 4:30, the hottest part of the day, 5 days a week. Yes, it is still hot to the locals, but when you're playing college baseball, it means nothing. No one passed out or had heat stroke because we had plenty of water. I heard them talking about how humid it was, you know, 30%. I started laughing, and the part about catching breath is true. I still have some problems adjusting.
But as far as the coaches being fired and people dying, I haven't heard one thing about it since August when it was HOT. I'm not saying heat stroke doesn't happen out here; I'm sure it does, but I'm saying that practice outside for 3.5-4 hours a day in that kind of heat is not uncommon. They have no other choice because there are only 4 colleges in all of Arizona that have lights for night games. Granted, it doesn't get much cooler, but it's still better than being in the sun.
"Baseball players are made in the off-season."

AP4, good luck out there.i wish you and your perserverance a long run. i, like BTIL have seen empty streets when visiting the southwest in august. i grew up playing in south florida in 93 degree heat and 90% humidity. I'LL TAKE MIAMI!!!!!!!!
