Re: Favorite College Parks (not home)
I also like UM's Mark Light. It is relatively compact for a field with that many seats and in nice shape. I like Olsen Field at Texa A & M. It s very well laid out for fans and has alot of shade, which is nice later in the year. I also like Stanky Field at the University of South Alabama. I don't like the town it is in, but Tulane's new ballpark is very nice.

Ross - How did Boomer handle not knowing the kids from the other team? Did he get to practice with them at all before the tourney? I'm curious because my son may get to go to Cooperstown with another team from another state.

bandito dad We had rain all weekend and played between squalls. Good luck this weekend. CADad I leave the coaching for those that can deal with parents!! This is me... Now TR can see who he is scolding!

Re: Callaway
bandito dad Great tournament! Boomer was invited to go as a substitute (this is not his regular team), but got more playing time than we expected. He combined for a one-hitter and got the win in another game. We enjoyed every moment we were there. Boomer will have wonderful memories forever (so will I). He gave up Dixie All Stars to attend the tournament and he said that he definitely made the right choice. It was a fantastic experience. From the pin trading, to playing on exceptional...

Re: Travel Baseball shuffle
bandito dad I'll answer the Boomer question. He played in the USSSA AA Nationals in Winston/Salem, NC for a SC travel team Carolina Stars . He had a great Tournament batting .575 and pitched as a closer. His team finished 6-2, 3rd overall. The winning team was from Indiana (Indiana Pony Express). AAU rules did not permit adding Boomer to Rob's roster. Boomer's Dixie All Star team (Dentsville, SC) won the state championship and is headed to the Dixie World Series next month. He gave up Dixie...

Travel Team Shuffle...I heard 2 Major 10U teams broke up around here. Not surprising though after hearing some of the infighting between parents and parents/parents and coaches on the teams at various tournaments. I'm sure the phone calls will start coming in to our team's coach soon. Hey Bandito Dad - congrats on the WS win in Henderson. My son's 10U team (KC Wildcats)planned all year on going, but in the end, we just didn't have the dough to make it there this year. I'm sure we will meet...

Re: 06 Season getting started
banditodad I haven't talked to you in a while. I trust all is well in bandito land. I read your post about Cooperstown. If you hook up with Redbird's team you won't regret it. They are GREAT people! We scrimmaged a lot of 13U teams last fall and played on their fields. No problems at all. The infielders had no problems adjusting. I was concerned about the pitchers, but it didn't have any effect on them either. I think it's good to play up.

Re: How is your season going so far?
Innocent & Bandito: Innocent, which AAU qualifier are you guys going to? Bandito, are you guys planning on the Elite 24 again or the AAU? It is a shame they are the same week this year for those that have done both last year.

Hey KC, Can't argue with rituals and superstitions! They are a big part of baseball. Please keep me posted on your son. There are a lot of us with sons about the same age (Redbird, Beezer, Bandito Dad, to name a few) and it will be fun keeping in touch. R.

We play USSSA baseball up here. I am familiar with Bandito Dad's program that he is in down there in Texas, saw them at the Super Series World Series last year (not Bandito Dad but the Bandito's teams). Maybe we will get lucky and make it to the USSSA Elite 24 this year and we can get to see some of these mighty southern teams that are from states other than Texas and Louisiana. There is teams from GA and FL coming up to the Road to Omaha tournament this year which will be fun to play...

Not a showcase, but a college camp run by the Hit Doctor (Tri State Arsenal) in south NJ. Three weekends: December 6/7, 13/14, and 20/21. Over 32 coaches will be there, spread out among the three weekends.

JAM3, yes it is run by the Hit Doctor/Arsenal. My son also attended last year. I thought it was a well run camp. Alot of interaction with coaches, within the NCAA guidelines of course.

Re: Pools are out for the Elite Battle in the South !
banditodad- Is it (bandito black) going to be an all 14 year old team? If so, they will beat average, local 15-16 year old teams and absolutely get lit up against a quality 16 year old team in a tournament like the 16 WWBA or USA 16's.

NCBALL. I totally agree with you about the level of play. But, they are going to be working at improving against the better talent in 16u. Texas Crude-I also agree with some of the statements that you shared, but if you have ever played with him and have been coached by him or Robert, you may be able to better understand him. Let me say that we did play for him for 5 years and when we left and played on another "select team" my son was well ahead of the others in knowledge of the game. We...

The Bandito program has come thru for us over the past 4 years even though he does not play for them anymore-we have come out and practiced with the team here in Austin--sat in on a pitching lesson here and there---great group - Great program - great coaching

a note to myself - the written word can have different context for different people, I'll give it another try Hank Aaron - "It took me seventeen years to get to three thousand" Spinedoc - "17 yrs?? I can do it with a stroke of my pen by writing one check .. to my son's summer coach" (hence the bandito pic )

Re: State champs stripped of 22 regular season wins
I went to the "U". Baseball was always pretty clean for the most part. Lazer Collazo was an anomaly. If their were steroids, they did not start until after 1993 when I was gone. I am afraid starting with next year's class (2018), the Sagaro "MVP/Bandito" era begins and my support goes away. My son played travel ball against the Banditos and MVP before they merged. Believe me, where there is smoke there is fire. The stories regarding both organizations are endless and anything you hear and...

Hello Bandito I might be able to help, I homeschooled in Grade 12. As far as education goes, if you or your wife are good teachers, then he'll probably be learning just as much if not more than public schoolers. It's great than you can teach him at a pace which wil allow him to learn instead of worrying about him falling behind the rest of the class. But if you can't teach him well, (like my teacher), then send him to public high. And depending on your neighborhood, if it's friendly, he'll...
