All thoughts appreciated on this topic. I searched both Blast and Diamond for info on both here. It appeared as if some used it and liked it over the last couple years here. I am hoping for more current info and feedback from those of you that have information. 1. Is anyone doing specific training (in person or remote) with either of these during quarantine times? How are they using it and is it a tool worth using? 2. Are metrics from these being used in recruiting or is it just noise from...

My son's college (HA D3) is starting to use Blast Motion this season. I can imagine that for schools that are already using it with their players, having this data for HF campers could be really useful.

From talking with our friends in the college coaching/recruiting ranks, that's exactly what we're hoping and expecting. Many programs are either already using Blast, or are looking to move onto it in the near future - so having the same data and metrics on their recruits that these coaches have on their players should really be able to help them make good recruiting decisions with a high level of confidence. There's a huge appetite from these coaches for this data to use in their recruiting...

As a showcase you definitely have to offer swing sensor data in these days.

We couldn't agree more! Our aim is to give coaches everything that they need to effectively and efficiently recruit student-athletes, so that they can make immediate strides and see results in their recruiting process at our camps and in the days/weeks following.

I would say all of these are viable and should be utilized for video. From what I can tell coaches don't seem dismissive of the results, particularly if you can show consistency. We've used Pocket Radar primarily, but also Diamond Kinetics and Blast. All relatively inexpensive options and for the most part accurate.

As far as the products - useful As far as the products being used on the recruiting trail - noise We talk a lot about recruiting on here and we break it down like it's science but the truth is that coaches either like what they see or they don't. Especially when it comes to position players. They either have a good swing and hit good pitching or they have no chance. If you want to use it to improve as a player then go ahead. If you want to use your attack angle and exit velo to make coaches...

My 2021 signed up for the Virtual Swing Off competition you all are doing with Blast. Great Idea! Just need ice for my shoulder.

That is definitely Great. I have been working with a kid from this site and he actually got sent a blast from headfirst a couple months in advance so we can use that for practice. Metrics I care most about are bat speed, swing time and VBA. Our goals are mid 70s consistent batspeed, attack angle around 12-15 and swing time .14 or better. You still need to hit in games of course but you can do a lot of fun stuff with it. For example we recently found out that his vba on low pitches inside is...

update...used our Blast a little this past summer and now getting ready to train with it this fall/winter/spring. Going to try to dig deeper this time thru. Anyone now using this and having success with it from a training perspective? Son had a private lesson with @FullerHitting last week (while visiting his sister in a who is in a hockey bubble at her college about an hour away in Massachusetts) and he reignited son's and my interest in Blast metrics. He uses it and now going to try to do...

Highly recommend pocket radar with Bluetooth for video as a recruiting and training tool. Good for both hitters and pitchers, and can be used both in practice and in game. Compared to all the other dollars we have spent over the years pocket radar was best value! Bat sensors typically are a subscription service—subscription not required for pocket radar.

My kid uses blast for checking attack angle and bat speed. If you have resources to a hit trax or rapsodo facility, that is also very helpful. Pocket radar is a great option for both throwing velo and batting EVs, but radar placement is key for accurate readings

Blast is a really good way to set your phone up to take a short video of each swing. That's about all i use it for. I like some of the metrics. Others not so much.
