How to Commit Long Distance

Hello all- I wanted to ask for some advice on my recruiting journey. I am a 2021 RHP, and I am starting to navigate the recruiting process. However, there is one school I am very interested in, and fits all my needs and wants in a school. It is a D1 program, a terrific academic institution, mid-size, located in a beautiful area, and a great school in general. I believe I have the talent to play at this school, as it is a mid-level D1 school (fastball tops out at 84 as a sophomore, compared...

Wondering if there is a place to look for scholarship info to see what portion of the 11.7 that various schools have/offer/use. I know that the Ivy League is a no athletic scholarship conference. It is my understanding that schools in the Patriot League do not grant/use scholarships for baseball either. Is there anywhere out there for one to look and research schools that are below 11.7? Might @CollegebaseballInsights know? If there is a thread out there about this I apologize as I have not...

Playing High School vs. Playing Travelball

I will start out by saying I understand everyone's baseball journey is different from thee other. with that being said, I support a player choosing to stay and play for their respective high school. There are now other avenues for these young people to play at the next level. But none are currently recognized as much as high school baseball is here in the USA. I have 4children, all play or played high school sports. The experience I had with my oldest son, is invaluable to me today, as my...

I am a future sophomore with dreams and aspirations of playing at Notre Dame, going pro, etc. My freshman year was disappointing from a baseball standpoint. I was second-string under a player who was probably a little better than me. He threw harder than me and was well known by the coaches before the season. Club or HS for summer

Here's the scenario, there is a kid who is a big kid who hits well and has a strong arm. Throws across the diamond low 80's, pitches in the mid to upper 80's. Strong hitter, but struggles on defense, hasn't played 3rd for very long. Some college coaches have expressed interest as a pitcher, mostly NAIA and D3 and they want to see him pitch this summer. High school coach likes his bat, and has said he will not pitch him (big school, deep in pitching). High School coach also feels strongly...

HS Tryout Question

momo1515 ·
Hi, I am a junior in high school and tryouts are coming up soon. I am a solid pitcher but I also play 3B and outfield for my summer team. I really enjoy hitting and cannot see myself becoming a PO just yet. My school is pretty big, so I probably have a better chance of making it onto the Varsity A team as a pitcher but I know I would not be getting much playing time and won't enjoy being just a pitcher. So I'm debating on whether to try out as both an outfielder and pitcher so I 'd be able...

Wesley, As a 16 year old, you have a good base to work with. I would recommend three things immediately: 1. Lose the Knee Savers. This should allow you to get lower in your stance. Also along that line...get more flexible in your hip flexors. Take a yoga class. You have a pretty good sized frame and you will need to present a low target at times. Flexibility is very important. 2. Find a long toss or arm strengthening/stabilizing program. We use Jamie Evans' Velo-City (...
