Champions is a baseball training facility in our area. Every year they post for tryouts for players that want to play the Disney tournament. That team is made up of players from several different travel ball teams here locally. We play against all of those guys everyday, but they are not gathered together collectively for the most part. They are a good representative of the kind of talent found in this area. They do not have the best 10-15 players, but do have some of the best 10-15 players. There are a lot of kids here better than some of them, but they are unable to go due to other obligations. How did the team look this year? They usually compete very well. I believe they won the tournament last year. I haven't heard who played this year or how they did.

I just spoke to one of my old players who moved to a different area and left our team. He played on the team (catcher) and he told me they played pretty well. He said the bigger name pitchers from our city didn't sign up to play on the team this year and they had a couple of Florida pitchers that played with them. I asked him how he played and he said "OK, I guess." - you know they never give you anything to go on. What was your impression of him. He caught the game you played them.

I really don't recall about the catcher, except that I don't remember any passed balls, or throwing errors, so I guess that means he had a pretty good game. I do recall that their starting pitcher, and first reliever were from Fl. though. The reliever was a small lefty who could run it up pretty good. Their starter was more effective ,but just ran out of gas.Regulation ended in a 2-2 tie.Luckily, our guys came out of a 3 game hitting slump in the 12th inning to score 8 runs put the game away. The Ky. boys were well schooled in the game, second only in my opinion, to the Tampa Bay team that won the championship. Do you know if the 14u Blue and Red teams had the same head coach? Although I didn't see it, I was told the coach for the Red 14u had a pretty good run in with the coaches from an opposing team, and the coach during our game with the Blue team was ejected. I think it was the same person.
