looking for advice - our situation is our #1 pitcher - who's a quality #1 ia also our best catcher - who loves catching. how do you handle this? - as far as bullpens, catching, etc. we have a couple of other good catchers but not as good as this kid.

Develop another catcher quickly, assuming he foremost wants to pitch. He can't pitch to himself. Besides, I would rather have a guy do one thing well than two things not so well.. and by the end of the season, he may well be so tired and banged up that may surely be the case.

I agree. I told my catcher son that if they ever want him to pitch, it's fastballs right down the middle.

Seriously, it is pretty common for HS coaches to use their catcher in the pitching rotation. Catchers often have the strongest arms on the team.

It scares me though. Playing catcher is not a very good way to recover from a pitching start!
