Recently a team in our league bunted 11 times in a row with great success. Part of the reason must have been that they were facing a guy who threw a perfect game a few weeks earlier and a couple 1 hitters. Any thoughts? Has anyone witnessed such a display of small ball before in all your years. By the way it was some what successful because they only lost 10-5 and prevented a possible shutout.

About two years ago we were playing a conference opponent who just got a new head coach. He came in and said a bunch of stuff which fired up his players and all kinds of stuff. We played at their place and used our number two pitcher to beat them like 5 - 2. At our place a couple of weeks later we threw our stud who ended up getting drafted.
We had heard through the grapvine (two small communities only minutes apart) that this coach was going to try and bunt to make our pitcher move around so he would get tired. Top of the first the first three guys tried to bunt and they struck out. Bottom of the first we scored 12 runs on them. So we're thinking "ok the bunt will now be off and they will return to trying to hit". Nope - top of the second number 4,5 and 6 all tried to bunt. All three struck out horribly. Bottom of the second I think we got two more runs. Top of third "surely there's no way in the world they are going to continue to bunt". Number 7, 8 and 9 all tried to bunt. Two struck out and one popped up to either our pitcher or third baseman. So three innings - 9 batters faced, 9 attempted bunts, 8 strike outs and down 14 runs. Second time through the line up they went back to baseball but by that point it was over.
It gets worse though. Our stud was a phenomenal hitter and there were several pro scouts at this game. First time up they intentionally walked him. No problem because at that point it was still 0 - 0 and we had two runners on with no outs. His second plate appearance in the first inning they still walked him intentionally. All told he had 5 plate appearances and 5 intentional walks even after being down 14 runs. The pro scouts were absolutely ticked off because they came to watch him hit as well as pitch.
It gets even worse. Next day in the paper the other coach stated that his plan had worked. He was determined to not let our stud player beat his team. Well it was a good plan except the other 8 guys in our line up destroyed him. He only lasted one year as their coach.
I say good job for them! They knew they were facing a tough pitcher, so they adjusted and obviously utilized their speed. Sounds like they made an honest game of it in the process. I have personally never been apart of such utilization of small ball, but it's not beyond me if I knew we were facing a shutdown pitcher.
I don't see how bunting 11 times in a row could work against any decent defense? While as a coach I regularly use the bunt in certain situations, and I'm a fan of the squeeze as well - I still can't see how this went down.
If I was the coach, or it had been any of my players, by the 2nd or 3rd bunt (at most) my corner infielders would have been in the hitter's back pocket when he squared.

And that's where it gets fun when on offense and scary on defense. You camp close on me, I don't care if it's a swing and miss, the next pitch will be a HUGE hack. Corners will be scared to death at that point. It's all about winning the mental game, at that point, imo.

You misinterpreted what I typed. I wouldn't have my defensive player "camped" there. They would play tight until the batter squared to bunt. If they are decent players and coached well, they will be at a dead sprint by the time the pitch gets there. I still say the defense was pretty bad to be able to let another team bunt 11 times in a row. I remember playing in GA last year and the opposing team had a kid who had crazy speed. He loved to bunt and get on base. He never saw a straight pitch. He never reach base safely.
I watched the Koreans bunt 9 consecutive times on Jim Abbott when he pitched for Team USA.
