hey all.. Just wondering what are the dimensions of the field when 13u teams are playing I am organizing a 13u team and would like to know an approximate distance for pitching mound and bases...would really help... Jason
The dimensions depends on where you're playing. ECTB (ectb.org) plays 60/90 at 13U. I know they tried 54/80 for the fall following 12U as a transition a couple of years ago. I don't know if they stuck with it. I have no idea what Baseball Heaven (baseballheavenli.com) does.
AAU offers two separate National Tournaments at 13U--one at 54/80 and one at 60/90. USSSA uses 54/80. SuperSeries allows either distance. Nations Baseball allows either.
USSSA WS tournament, CABA WS, and many others play 54/80. Now I do see some 60/90, but here in the SE, unless you go to FLA, ALL 13U is 54/80. That is why we play 14U to get 60/90 games in.
It is just too much of a transition for most kids to go from 50/70 to 60/90 in one off-season.
It not only depends on the organization, but also the fields available where you are located.
USSSA is the biggest organization where I am, and it depends on what level / classification your team is. 13UAA is always 54/80, 13AAA and above is 60/90 by default, but sometimes it all depends on what dimensions that fields are that are available to play on.
