14u bat?

Beezer-My son just got a new Demarini Voodoo (-3) and loves it. Has only used it in practice so far but the weight doesn't seem to be an issue. He will probably use his -8.5 for some of the faster guys but he has a really quick bat so I don't think it will be too big an issue. He loves Demarini and we were laughing this morning because he is almost 13 but has had 5 Demarini's. He also has a Dynasty and has only used it 3 times and for the Triple Crown World Series Homerun Derby. Talk about a waste of money.!

My son went for the -3 but dropped from 32 to 31 inches

14U is time to start using a -3. He will adjust very quickly. This will give him time to adjust well before he HAS to make the change (e.g., HS).

Lilpappi played with -9 as a 13U. We're thinking about going -5 as a 14U as a stepping stone to -3 when he's in HS.

He also has a very quick bat but I'm afraid to make it too heavy for him.

He had great experience with the TPX Dynasty and they have a -5 so we'll probably stick with it for '07.

What did he use previously? -9?

My son is a 16 year old junior in HS. He is a line drive spray hitter. I am looking to get him a new 33 inch -3 bat. He has used many -3 bats in the last few years, but was unable to pick a true favorite since they all seem to have about the same pop. He was a little partial to the Demarini VooDoo. I haven't been able to see any noticable differences in pop and believe me I am looking for every possible advantage. I think the BESR makes the bats all pretty close. It becomes a matter of feel for the individual and durability. I would be willing to spent $300 for a bat with a noticable advantage, but at this point I am comfortable buying something off last years clearance rack for allot less.

Anybody you know have a Worth AMP?

No....and to the best of my knowledge my son hasen't used one either.

Im 14u rite now and i have been using a -3 for about a year now. I think it all depends on his size and what he feels comfortable with. I never really used a -5.

My 14U son has been using Louisville Slugger C555 Omaha -3 bat this fall. He feels comfortable with it. I got that bat from a garage sale for 3 dollars. He had some great hits from it.

In this past spring and summer season, he had three home runs using Louisville Slugger Air C555 -8 bat and have a new -3 (same model) waiting for him to use this coming spring season with his high school team. We (family) are looking forward for his high school freshman tryout in February.

Louisville Slugger Air C555 is an old model bat from two or three years ago. My son tested the new one and had a lot of great hits off that -3 bat in an open baseball field this week.

We're right next door in NRH and I have a 14U too. What team will your boy play on this spring/summer?

Beez - stanwoodson moved to a -3 Stealth last year (he's 14U). He's had no problem adjusting. Sounds like Beezerson is pretty strong and athletic, if he can handle it you might as well move him to a -3 now since he'll have to move next year.

Stanwood - I'm pretty sure that's what I'm doing (-3) but guess now it's more trying to figure out which bat. I'm leaning towards a closeout Connexion from one of the catalog companies because I can get it for about 1/2 off the original price. Either that or I can get him a Worth AMP at cost. I know he likes the Connexions (safe buy) but the new Worth is "Cool looking". But not sure if he'd actually like it.

This is the one stanwoodson wants now. It ain't gonna happen right now.

My son will be playing with Fort Worth Drillers 15U team in the summer. Coach Jerry has 13U to 18U teams. He is looking for good 13U and 14U players for this coming spring.

Yeah a voodoo is a good bat. I have the Vexxum for high school ball and I love. The voodoo is supposedly made for power hitters and the Vexxum for kids who hit for average so maybe you can make a decision on that.

One of my son's teammates last year had one and he loved it but my son thought it was "OK". Maybe he only thought it was ok because he knows there's no way I'd spend $350 for a bat.
