my son will be going to East Cobb this summer to play 15U. Should we make a list of schools and send them an e mail with our game schedule requesting they take a look at him or is it too early in the process for that? If so would you include other info like his freshman grades varsity stats etc? Thanks!

Coaches are ALWAYS looking for talent ---- and I like the proactive way you think! Stats create some interest but I don't think a college coach would make a trip to see a 15 year old player based on a father's copy of his stats. Grades, while important to get into college, don't CREATE interest with the baseball coach. It's all about talent. I think college coaches look at grades (AFTER the player's talent has caught their attention) as either OK or NOT OK.

To be truly proactive, the schools your son is interested in (and where he's a good fit) should be kept informed that he's interested in their program and should be sent a current schedule and "reminders" from time to time (not just an email about an East Cobb tournament). Remember the recruiting "ride" isn't an event, it's a process that lasts a few years.

PS: after re-reading your post I think your son will be playing all summer for an East Cobb team ---right? If so I would include this in his communications with the colleges he's interested in.

I would let my son play in East Cobb without the worry of College scouts at 15 years old. I have seen multiple great 15 year old players not be very good at all come 17 years old and many average 15 year old be studs. A realistic list of colleges may be short changing your son at too early of age. BEST advive I can give you is enjoy the games as East Cobb is an awesome place and don't worry at this point about schools.

23... thank you also for your opinion. The list was going to have everything from the local CC which has an excellent baseball program to the D1 dream school.

I have been through this process with my daughter in FP so I am somewhat familiar with how it may work. I just was not sure if it were different on the baseball side.

We went two summers in a row to the big showcase in Boulder, CO. First day first game we walk into the complex and there is Lisa Fernandes scouting for UCLA. Later on the Head coach for Tennessee Ralph Weekly grabbed me by he arm as I walked by and asked me to escort him to where our head coach was so he could discuss one of our players. I tell this because I know this will be a grand experience but we will have our feet on the ground as they say. I would not expect much at this age but at least getting on the radar and whether this was the appropriate time was what I was inquiring about.
