Guys

I appreciate all the help and advice we have received so far. I have used it wisely and have managed to get my son to begin slowly throwing again but still working on velocity and accuracy which he has lost signifcantly .He still needs alot of work he mechanics look weird at times. What seems to have been working is following his throw after release.
What I have noticed sometimes when he throws is that his hips shift forward as if he is collasping on the back leg or like his upper body seems to want to go up in the air rather than bend at the waist and move forward to throw which has caused his ball to be thrown up and not get snap. this weird mechanics started after he tried to compenstate for not throwing the ball in the ground..... any ideas please

Thanks

I'm not sure how you are stocked for books, buy I have found the following to be pretty good regarding throwing (all available from Amazon.com):

Baseball Skills & Drills, by Mark Johnson et al. ISBN 0-7360-3738-1; This is a good overall book on all aspects of baseball and as a good section on throwing mechanics for fielders.

The Act of Pitching, by John Bagonzi, ISBN 193077019-7; This is as detailed a description of the pitching process as you are going to find anywhere. Step by step discussion of what to do and when to do it.

The Pithcing Edge, by Tom House, ISBN 0-7360-0155-7, Another pitching book. This one is a more advanced, less detailed and a bit tough to understand, but there is good information to be had.
