In 1995 when our American teams traveled to Korea for our Goodwill Series #10, I watched the Japan National Team and was impressed by a young player named Kosuke Fukudome.

My letter to his High School coach indicated that he would not leave Japan. One of our coaches was Eddie Bane now Scouting director of the LA Angels.

International Baseball is a "different game".

One of our American players was Jason Marquis, teammate of Kosuke. Interesting but true!

Nice story, Bob.. and thanks for taking the time to talk to me the other day. The year 1995 is an important one in the "Bum" family because that is when the Seattle Mariners made their improbable run into the playoffs.. when Griffey saved baseball in Seattle. I remember screaming and yelling during each come-from-behind victory that August. I'm surprised the neighbors didn't call 9-1-1. But it ignited a fuse in the Bum family because Bum, Jr. was promptly enrolled in coach-pitch then age 5. And the rest is history.
