In what has to be the Beach Game of the Week, the Dolphins of Ocean Lakes travel (what is all of 5 minutes Smile ) to take on the Knights of Kellam in an early matchup of Beach Title Contenders.

In the Top of the 1st the Dolphins start things with back to back groundouts from Killian Strenn and Shawn Morimando to give them 2 quick outs in the inning. Alex Lambert coming to the plate next sees a walk to give the Fins their first base runner of the afternoon. Next up, Casey Bryant singles, advancing the runner and giving OL 1st and 2nd with 2 outs. The Kellam pitcher would then come through to end the threat as he struck out Pat Ryan to end the top half of the inning.

Moving to the Bottom of 1 Morimando gets a quick start as he strikes out the Kellam leadoff for a quick 1st out, but perfection would soon fade on a fielding error by Strenn at 3B in only the second batter of the game. This would give Kellam a runner at 1st with one out. Morimando having some trouble finding the plate would go on to walk the next batter to give the Knights 1st and 2nd.

Shawn would then get the next batter to fly out, advancing the runner from second to put runners at the corners with 2 outs. Yet another pop out, this one in the infield would end Kellams threat in the bottom of the 1st.

At the end of 1:
Ocean Lakes-0
Kellam-0
For the Dolpins in the Top of the 2nd, Riley Koonce leads things off with a groundout, giving Kellam a quick out. Next up, Christian Bethelmy would single to give OL a runner with 1 out. Frangoules at the plate next would strike out for the 2nd out of the inning and a Tyler Lassiter flyout would end the Top of the 2nd for Ocean Lakes. The Fins at the plate have left 3 runners on base so far.

Heading to the Bottom of 2:
OL-0 Kellam-0
Kellam's leadoff in the bottom of the 2nd would groundout, giving the Knights their 1st out. Next at the plate the Kellam offense would produce a single to put a runner on with 1 out.

Morimando would quickly end the inning as he strikes out the next two Kellam batters and we move on to the 3rd inning.

After 2 innings played:
Ocean Lakes-0
Kellam-0

Pilots81, thank you, but thank my little brother haha.

The Dolphins would be the first to break through in the Top of 3 as Killian Strenn would hit a solo shot to put OL up 1-0. The bats would stay hot as Morimando would double followed by a Lambert single to put runners at the corners with none out.

Next up, Bryant would roll over a grounder to third, holding Morimando at 3rd, but moving Lambert to second to give OL runners in scoring position with 1 out. This would prove meaningless though, as Pat Ryan would strike out for the second time in as many at bats, then Koonce would fly out to end Ocean Lakes' threat in the Top of 3. That gives OL 5 runners left on base and 3 in scoring position.

After half of 3:
OL-1
Kellam-0

Kellam starts things off in the bottom half with a leadoff bloop single to put a runner on with none out. Morimando would come back though to strike out the next two Kellam batters and gets the next batter to flyout to go 1-2-3 after the leadoff single. Through 4 innings played, Morimando has 8 Strikeouts to only 1 walk and both pitchers are moving the game along in a defensive battle.

After 4 innings:

Ocean Lakes-1
Kellam-0
Moving to the Top of the 5th Ocean Lakes would poke through another run. After a groundout from Strenn to start the inning, Morimando would help himself out with a solo shot to put the Dolphins up 2-0. Kellam's SP would come back after the 2nd HR to strike out the next two OL batters in Lambert and Bryant, respectively.

Aside from the 2 solo home runs, Kellam's pitcher has kept the Dolphin bats quiet for most of the game and gotten out of jams in a couple innings. Kudos.

After 4 and half:
OL-2 Kellam-0
Kellam gets a strong start to the Bottom of 5 only to have it dwindle away at the hands of Morimando. The Knights offense would produce a leadoff double only to see back to back strike outs before Morimando's second issued walk of the game.

Despite the runners on 1st and 2nd, Shawn would come through to get his 11th strikeout of the game to end the 5th inning and produce his second inning of striking out the side.

After 5 innings:

Ocean Lakes-2
Kellam-0
In the Top of 6, Kellam sees a pitching change after a great outing from the SP. Now in to pitch is Ian Shiner and he works effectively in the half inning.

Pat Ryan's struggles at the plate would continue as he would pop out to Shiner to start the inning. Riley Koonce would strike out next for OL to bring Bethelmy to the plate who would lay down a bunt single to keep the 'Fins bats alive. After a steal of second by Bethelmy, Frangoules would strike out to end the inning and leave another runner in scoring position.

To the Bottom of 6:
OL-2
Kellam-0

In the Bottom of the 6th, Kellam gets a runner on but still can't scratch across one on Morimando. Morimando would strike out the leadoff batter for his 12th of the game only to give up a single to the next batter. After the base knock, Kellam's hitters would groundout and pop out to end the inning for Kellam offensively as we move to the last inning.

Through 6 innings:

Ocean Lakes-2
Kellam-0
In the Top of 7, Ocean Lakes would see little action in what could be their last at bat today. Lassiter would groundout to begin the inning, then Strenn would follow with a flyout for the 'Fins 2nd out in as many at bats. Morimando would stay hot on the day as he produced another hit for OL, a single with 2 outs. This would show meaningless as Shiner would ground Lambert out to end the Top half of the 7th.

Moving on to Kellam's offensive half of the 7th, Morimando stays on the hill looking to go complete for the first time this season.

After 6 and Half:

OL-2 Kellam-0

Kellam would come through in the Bottom of the 7th to scratch across a run, but it would not be enough. Morimando would groundout the leadoff batter to short before surrendering a solo shot to Kellam, to park the score at 2-1, OL. Shawn would come back for his 13th strikeout on the next batter and the last batter would flyout to end the ball game.

In what was a great district ball game between two of the District and Regions top teams, OL would hold on to win a defensive and pitchin battle thanks to 2 solo Home Runs from Strenn and Morimando. Great Game!

FINAL SCORE:
#3 Ocean Lakes-2
#2 Kellam-1

WP: Morimando (2-0)

HR: Kellam 1, OL 2 (Strenn, Morimando)
