#2 Ocean Lakes vs #4 First Colonial

Should be interesting tomorrow to see if Ocean Lakes or FC switches pitchers. Pretty sure Bowman will pitch again for FC. Not so sure about OL.

Sean Morimando accounted for all five Ocean Lakes runs with a two run HR in the 4th and a three run HR in the 7th. He also pitched a complete game.

Bowman was strong for 5 1/3 innings giving up 2 runs (after pitching 1 1/3 the day before in the rainout).

A well played game by both teams with few errors, some nice hits, and strong pitching.

Ocean Lakes (9-1) has the schedule advantage from here out playing the lower 2/3 of the district.

First Colonial (9-2) has Landstown, Green Run and Cox in the next 3 games.

Great game, Morimando was awesome. Lets throw him another fast ball, after a lefty was taken out and he hit the last fastball he saw for a homerun, bad pitch call, great at bat. Great players take advantage of other's mistakes.

I am sorry I could not do the write up. I did not have anyone at the game keeping me posted. Good to hear Shawn did such good work today. Bowman pitch at all? Congrats to Ocean Lakes!

yes it was a great game, but i think i would have taken my odds on a lefty lefty matchup and then if he hit a homerun....tip your hat to him
Bowman pitched his butt off and i applaud him for hanging in there.....

The Beach, if played out as it should, will come down to the FC/Cox showdown next Friday. With OL having ten runned 5 of their last 6 opponents with the other a 7-2 win over Tallwood, they might have the advantage. They need help though after being dominated by Cox last Friday.

Here is how it is:

OL: Must win out and have Cox lose to FC or any other of the last 6 games.
FC: Must beat Cox next Friday and have OL lose a game the rest of the way.
Cox: Win out. Possible having FC lose another game the rest of the way.

If FC doesn't lose any games except to Cox, all three teams will be tied with one loss.
What would then happen? With each team have beaten one another.

its pretty early to be making these if such and such happens scenarios. wait a couple weeks. theres still alot of baseball and other teams out there...

Correct, but after Friday there is only two weeks left in the season. We all know that the most pivotal game is the one next Friday. There shouldn't be any argument against that.

true. i just say wait til after the cox/fc game then it wil be alot more clear. and you never know when there will be an upset with any of the other teams not in the top 3 pulling a victory vs cox, ol, or fc...

Yes, that was the focus of point from earlier based upon the Fc/Cox game. I wish I had the time to go check it out but I have to watch OL play Bayside. Should be exciting as always.

Did Bowman get taken out after he had 2 hits and get pinch hit for by someone?

Lawson was brought in and then cook came in in the top of the 7th for the loss....
Lawson had 2 men on with 1 out and had just struck out Lambert. Next batter a lefty, therefore would have let Lawson go at Morimondo and see what happens. FC has to score more runs.....

My mistake for my comments earlier about the standings and what needs to happen. I realized too late last night that FC now has 2 district losses, leaving them to be the odd man out and play season spoiler for the Cox Falcons....And yes No Way I fully agree....Lawson strikes out the Lefty, and potentially top hitter Alex Lambert for the Fins, but doesn't get to face the next lefty who can hit for power? That makes no sense.

Well what I think the game really showed was how evenly matched FC, Cox, and OL are. It makes for a great season and thats all you can ask for

My mistake on the loss, it was Cook for FC that gave up the HR.
FC is not completely out of the regular season as I have seen some life in Bayside, PA and Kellam (have not seen Landstown) that on a given day with one good pitching performance and an umpire that calls alot of strikes, any of them can win over Cox, OL or FC. It is unlikely though as OL and Cox will outscore any of the other teams in a slugfest.

VB, OL has the best offense in the Beach. It has been shown that you can shut down Cox. I have not seen OL shut down yet.

redbird5, Cox and Ocean Lakes have very great offensive teams. neither have been shut down, they have been held under 8 runs a couple games but have not been shut down. I think Cox is better

That's your opinion. Cox didn't get a ball out of the IF until the 6th inning in one game. That is getting shut down. OL hitters are better, IMO, but I wouldn't categorize either one of them as "great".
