Today in a Beach District battle we see the Dolphins of Ocean Lakes face off against the Cox Falcons in an early rematch of last seasons Tournament Final.

On the Hill for the Dolphins in the Top of the 1st we see Patrick Ryan. So far Cox has built a quick 1 to 0 lead on a 4 pitch walk and 2 errors coming at 3rd and RF for the Dolphins. Ryan was able to work his way out of the jam and the Fins move on the bottom half of 1.

Bottom of 1st: Cox-1 OL-0

In the Bottom of 1 the Fins get the ball rolling early. After a leadoff single by Killian Strenn, Lassiter and Lambert would both walk to load the bases for a Shawn Morimando RBI single to tie the game at 1.

With the bases still loaded C.Bryant would fly out to give the Falcons their first out in the bottom half. Next up, Pat Ryan would come up big in helping his own cause with a 2 RBI single to notch the score at 3-1 OL. With one out and runners at first and second, Frangoules would ground into a fielders choice, getting the runner out at second but advancing a runner to third, putting runners at corners with 2 down. Riley Koonce would then come up to groundout for the 3rd out of the inning.

At the end of 1:

Ocean Lakes-3 Cox-1
In the Top of 2 the Falcons would leadoff with a first pitch groundout. Next up, Cox would register a single in the book but would prove to be all in the inning. A fielders choice would get the next batter out at 1st, moving the runner to second, but another groundout for the Falcons would end the top half of the 2nd inning. After 1 and a half the score is still OL-3 Cox-1.

The Bottom half of 2 would prove to show more control problems for the Cox starter. Leading off, Christian Bethelmy would draw a walk and go on to swipe second with none out. Back to the top of the order Killian Strenn and Tyler Lassiter would draw back to back walks to then load the bases with none out. After not finding the strike zone, Falcons head coach, Bill Conroy would go to his bullpen before Alex Lambert would come to the plate.

After the pitching change, Lambert would hit a sac fly, scoring the runner from third to make the score 4-1 Ocean Lakes. Next up, Shawn Morimando would hit into a fielders choice, moving both runners over but giving the Fins their second out of the inning. In the next at bat, Casey Bryant would roll over a grounder to third to end the threat for Ocean Lakes in the bottom of 2.

Excellent work by the Cox relief pitcher coming in with a no out bases loaded jam and only surrending 1 Run (charged to the starter)... Hats off.

At the end of 2:

Ocean Lakes-4 Cox-1
The Falcon bats would wake up in the Top of 3 as they would start the inning with back to back singles off of SP Pat Ryan, putting runners at 1st and 3rd with none out. With Ryan's composure a bit shaken, the Falcons would capitalize with a run on a wild pitch to make the score 4-2 OL. The WP would also move the other runner into scoring position.

With a runner at second and none out, a base running mistake by the Falcons would prove costly as a fielders choice would get the runner trying to advance to third on a grounder. This would leave a runner at first with just 1 out for Cox. Another fielders choice in the next at bat would get the runner going into second for the 2nd out of the inning, then a line out to SS Alex Lambert would end the offensive half for the Falcons.

Halfway through 3 the score is OL-4 Cox-2.

Pat Ryan coming to the plate in the bottom half of 3 to lead things off would groundout for the quick first out of the inning. Next up, Frangoules would walk for the second time in as many trips then would advance to 3rd on a Riley Koonce double to the wall. Christian Bethelmy would come through for the Fins with an RBI single to make the score 5-2 OL and moving the runner to third.

With runners at the corners and just 1 out, Tyler Lassiter would produce with an RBI single scoring Koonce from 3rd, making the score 6-2 OL. Lassiter would advance to 2nd on the throw home, putting both runners in scoring position with 1 out. Killian Strenn and Alex Lambert would then both groundout, both proving unproductive, to end the bottom half of the inning for the Fins.

After 3 Innings:

Ocean Lakes-6 Cox-2
In the top of 4, Cox would leadoff with a flyout to CF for the 1st out of the inning. Next, the Falcons would hit back to back singles, but another baserunning mistake would prove to hurt as Koonce would throw the Cox runner out trying to advance to 3rd, giving the Falcons 2 outs and a runner on first.

A single in the next at bat would give Cox their 3rd hit of the inning, putting runners at first and second with 2 down. Next Falcon hitter would flyout to RF to end the top half for Cox with score still 6-2 Ocean Lakes.
