The field is set...and here are the day one match-ups:
2007 ODAC Baseball Tournament (at City Stadium in Lynchburg, Va.)
First Round - Thursday, April 26
G1..#6 Randolph-Macon vs. #1 Virginia Wesleyan – 11:00 a.m.
G2..#5 Washington and Lee vs. #2 Hampden-Sydney – 3:00 p.m.
G3..#4 Bridgewater vs. #3 Lynchburg – 7:00 p.m.

The brackets have not been released, but here is how I understand it for day two:
W1 vs L3
W2 vs W3
L1 vs L2

Yes, quite a screwy bracket, but this is how many D-I conferences with only 6 teams in do it, and I think this is the way the NCAA's went for D-I back in the 6 team regionals format.

The NCAA D-III baseball handbook explains the 6 team bracket, sort of...

Six-Team
The format for the tournament where six teams participate:
Game 1—Team 1 vs. Team 6
Game 2—Team 2 vs. Team 5
Game 3—Team 3 vs. Team 4
Game 4—Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2
Game 5—Winner Game 1 vs. Loser Game 3
Game 6—Winner Game 2 vs. Winner Game 3

If four teams remain after Game 6, the following procedure will be observed:
Game 7—Winner Game 5 vs. Winner Game 6
Game 8—Winner Game 4 vs. Loser Game 6
Game 9—Loser Game 7 vs. Winner Game 8
Game 10—Winner Game 7 vs. Winner Game 9
Game 11—If necessary, same teams as in Game 10

If five teams remain after Game 6, the following procedure will be observed:
Game 7—Loser Game 5 vs. Loser Game 6
Game 8—Winner Game 4 vs. Winner Game 5
Game 9—Winner Game 6 vs. Winner Game 7

If two teams remain after Game 9, the following procedure will be observed:
Game 10—Winner Game 8 vs. Winner Game 9
Game 11—If necessary, same teams as in Game 10

If three teams remain after Game 9, the following procedure will be observed:
Game 10—Winner Game 8 vs. Loser Game 9
Game 11—Winner Game 9 vs. Winner Game 10

In all six-team tournaments, Games 1, 2 and 3 will be played on the first day; Games 4, 5 and 6 will be played on the second day; Games 7, 8 and 9 will be played on the third day, and Games 10 and 11 will be played on the fourth day.

Although I feel as if I'm talking to myself...here goes the SATURDAY UPDATE:

BC defeats VWC 4-3 in 12 innings. Rivera went the first 11 for VWC. Both teams had ample opportunities to win.

LC thumps W&L 14-2, tallying runs in every inning. Joe Devlin goes 6 IP to get the win. Jon Crews goes 5 for 5 with 4 doubles to pace the 20 hit attack.

HSC vs BC in 7 PM game. Regardless of the outcome, Sunday at 1 PM will see LC vs HSC. IF BC wins, they play for the title at 4 PM, lose tonite and they go home.

1030 PM UPDATE:
In the final game of the day, BC defeated HSC 13-5. BC will play the winner of Sunday's 1 PM game between HSC and LC.

The key play of the game (and maybe the tournament) may be a collision at the plate by BC SS Jono Brooks, who was ejected from the game for trying to take out the catcher. Speculation in the stands is that due to that type of ejection, that Brooks, the Eagles' leading HR hitter for the season, may not be playing in Sunday's championship game.

You're welcome. Bridgewater is playing like a team on a mission right now. I expect them to start Read on Saturday and should have the advantange, as LC and HSC will throw the house at each other just to get to the title game. It will be most interesting to see if Brooks will be eligible to play, or not for BC.
JT - I've been following your thread! Just not sure who to cheer for! Smile Now that Lynchburg is out, I'll certainly be hoping for HSC to pull things out! I don't think we have a Bridgewater parent, do we!?!?! Big Grin

So is Lynchburg's season over?

I'll be following to see what happens. If that Bridgewater team looses their SS, I would think that could have a significanat impact... assuming so... not looking at any stats.
Bridgewater defeated HSC 7-0 to win the title. BC will await to hear where and who they will play in the Regional tournament. The season is over for the rest of the ODAC teams as none will have enough rating points to move to post-season play.

It was really nice to visit with FC v dad every day, and meet LadyNMom's son.

I got a good picture of her son and emailed it to LNM.

For a small college tourney, I thought it was a great turnout in fans and parents. Having Lynchburg playing the final day certainly helped attendance. I understand that the City of Lynchburg will be hosting again, next year. The stadium folks and grounds crew did a great job and were wonderful hosts.
