The Connie Mack World Series is underway again in Farmington New Mexico. This is one of the coolest baseball experiences that a high school aged player can have. The people in Farmington really make a big deal out of this and there are many of the top players in the country on the teams that qualified.

We are very happy to be a part of this representing Illinois baseball. Besides our program, the Sparks and Top Tier have both sent teams in recent years and have represented Illinois well. We hope we can do the same.

The 10 teams in the tournament are...

Arizone Firebirds, Phoenix AZ
Bill Hood Broncos, Hammond LA
DBAT Mustangs, Addison TX
East Cobb Yankees, Marietta GA
Florida Legends, Miami FL
Longshots Baseball, Downers Grove IL
Midland Redskins, Cincinnati OH
Ontario Blue Jays, Toronto CA
Puerto Rico Raiders, Ceiba PR
Strike Zone Cardinals, Farmington NM

These are many of the best summer baseball programs in the country, and it will be a great tournament. Play began Friday night and so far, the Puerto Rico and Canada teams have been eliminated.

If you are interested in following the games (all games have the radio broadcasts streamed through the internet), the web site is here...

On a side note, they hold a home run contest each year and yesterday it was won by Mike Gerber, recent Neuqua Valley graduate, who is committed to Creighton and was drafted by the Yankees.

Congrats Michael.
