A bat is a personal item. Someone could recommend a bat their stud son uses and it could be the worst bat for you. You need to get a hold of bats, either at a sporting goods store, friends or teammates and get a feel for the one that suits you best.

My son uses an EXO. His best friend uses a Stealth. They don't like each other's bats. Their bats are very different. They are both good hitters.

I asked my Son and he says "hardly anybody uses the Vendetta, but Voodoos are everywhere".

He broke two Voodoos but really liked the Vexxum, he's had a couple of those through the years and they worked really well.

Recently, he is trying the Easton Stealth and likes it but, he's swinging wood in the "off season". So I guess I'll get an honest critique in about 6 months.

axu ... follow his advice! Also you need, at the very least, a layman's understanding of the categories of bats available; alloy, composite/alloy hybrid combos, and composites. How much you can or are willing to budget will be a factor as the aforementioned categories get progressively more expensive. The type of hitter you are can also affect the decision. Larger, stronger players, often prefer the 1-piece or "stiffer" designed bats. While others prefer the bats that "flex" and a 2-piece construction.

There are bat blogs out there that you should read. My son always works with wood (H.S. player)in Summer/Fall leagues, drills, B.P. cage work, etc. In-Season game bat is a composite (likes the Easton Synergy better than the Demarini CF4)when it's temperate out. Early season games, when below 60 degrees, he will use a Hybrid (favors the TPX H2 over the Demarini Voodoo but they are very similar) which he also uses during on-field BP practice sessions.

Most can't afford all the options so choose what fits your needs, pocketbook and feels good! A good hitter will be successful with any of them!

I'm not sure where you live at but I live in cal. Just this year a bunch of bats were banned due to the injuries. The black and gold voodoo is probably one of the best bats I have used but the bat is now banned. It's still legal in travel ball but not for highschool play in cal. But if you don't Have the bans yet don't get a composite bat. Make sure it is passed from the ban. I just got the new louisville omaha (a full alluminum bat) and I love it. This website might help you out if you have the ban in your state

As mentioned it's a personal thing. Going to a -3 last year, my youngest hit with several DeMarini's, a Stealth Speed & an Exo. He liked the crazy pop of the Speed95, but when it came to buy his own, he'd already chose an Exo. Mainly due to previous success with Exo's, & it didn't hurt that I found him a new one cheap.

Over the Christmas break, he earned a bunch cutting/delivering firewood. With money burning a hole in his pocket, ended with a cheap deal on a new Voodoo off eBay. Bunch of his older buddies have swung Voodoos the last couple years, with nearly all sending their Voodoos in for warranty replacement after 60-70 games. If his gets that much use on it, we'll prob do the same, whatever we get in exchange will be a cage bat for 2012.
