If anyone has any information on the best tournaments in Texas and surrounding states for the 2010 summer season I would really appreciate it. I have a 17u scout team and we only want to go to the best and most respected tournaments. We are already going to East Cobb,Pastime- OSU and Pastime- University of Arkansas But any recommendations or thoughts would be appreciated! Also any thoughts on any of the many summer leagues in the Dallas area would be appreciated!

I don't know of many tournaments in Texas and the surrounding states but if you hear of any please let me know. I run a baseball academy in Longview and we have showcase teams in the 16 and 18u age groups. We are also registered for WWBA and Pastime OSU. If you know of anymore I would appreciate it. I'm still trying to finalize our summer schedule.
That group doesn't host anything in Texas yet and not a whole lot of events worth going to. They have a few great locations for events and the rest are just average, like most groups. That group also posts a lot of "Future Tournaments Coming Soon For:" on the front page of the tournament schedule at schools they never actually host at. The word in the Midwest and Great Lakes region is that these guys are a little on the shady side and it appears as though they are after more money from the teams than any other event host (up to $225-300 per team for gate). Our parents are all for the one time gate fee since it is easier on them but most of these guys are charging $125/team or $150/team max.

We have talked with a good hand full of teams that have participated in the events and the opinion is that the tournaments are pretty small for the most part, member teams run the events so true tournament directors aren't present, the events are mostly small, and the scouting isn't as abundant as it is with the big boys (Perfect Game, South Carolina Diamond Devils, Impact, Buckeye Elite, Pasttime Tournaments, Premier and one or two others).
Bama Bomber,

No offense to you, though I understand you are one of the members that run the program, but I don't need any proof or facts as the message posted was an opinion and people will take it for what it's worth. The message board process, in general, is for opinions from people across the country and I was simply stating an opinion. I'm not disgruntled about your events but your statement makes it sound as though you get quite a bit of that if you have heard opinions like the one I posted before.

The opinion listed was just my two cents on the amazing price of gate fees for the parents. I like the idea of the one time fee but the fee itself is really high especially after having already paid for the high price of the events with very few teams attending.

Sorry for stirring your pot but an opinion is an opinion and not to be mistaken for a fact. Accusations require being accused of something ... what did I accuse you of doing?
Sti6 -- "A little on the shady side" is a little bit shady. If this were a newspaper (which it is not) it would not make it into print. But it is a public forum and the attack is pretty sharp. Bama Bomber has a very solid point. And for someone not disgruntled with his events, you sound pretty disgruntled.
